North injury? (Rumor) He did get hurt at practice today (8-12-15)

You are correct, but that doesn't make it any better. Many teams are deeper. I think many overestimate our depth. If North is out, its 2 experienced players. Experience isn't something we have a lot of.

I think you're missing the point of what we were arguing.... Nobody is saying that you care about other teams or this isn't a bad deal or that it makes it better. There are people acting like this doesn't happen to anybody else and are freaking out like they have never heard of this before. Just showing how it does... To everybody... Some years worse than others.

Jackson wasn't our best OL, he was our most veteran OL that suddenly became our best OL when he got injured. This is a result of a dramatic fanbase. IMO Robertson outplayed him at OG and by all reports Kerbyson and Coleman were playing at a higher level. Also remember Jackson got stonewalled by a freshman DT. Not a great sign.

Jackson was also our least athletic OL playing in a system that relies upon taller and more athletic OL.

North might have been our best WR but we'll never know. He didn't get much going with Worley and got 1 game with Dobbs before being injured. He's been injured his entire time here. Can't be the best WR if you're constantly injured and, according to him, he hasn't been healthy since he got here.

To be honest, and this is callous, but I was expecting to lose North at some point this year for at least a couple of game. Same with Croom, Smith and Pearson. We can't seem to keep any WRs healthy for an entire year. Personally, I blame UGA. I think we caught what they had in 2013.

Good grief man. Want me to see if North is laying on the field still so you can kick him?

I wanna know how a uga fan heard this before any of our insiders did.

Ve haf ovar vays.

On a serious note, I hope it's not a serious injury. But it sounds exactly like any other ACL/MCL tear I've ever seen (I've seen many). They don't usually cause any pain at the tear, just at the joint. People always feel the tear, sometimes actually hear it. I've heard it described as a rubber band popping. Has nothing to do with conditioning, as I saw another poster indicate. Is usually very heredity. I've seen entire families of athletes have to have surgical repairs.

I totally get that it does. I too get tired of the "snake bit" stuff. I thought you were implying it all evens out.

Question for anyone that has been keeping track. If north is serious, how many returning starters do we really have after attrition? How many that have left or injured were in the 18 that we heard so much about?
When people said "we have WAY more returning than anyone else", 1-10 was actually only a 5 player difference. Seems like we are closing that gap quickly.

We had 18 returning starters. Jackson out makes 17. We'll wait on real news of North before counting him out.

I feel optimistic if he really did just sit and watch practice from the training table. I would think if it was a serious injury he wouldn't have been watching at all, he would have been with the medical staff getting fully evaluated.

Here's a bright side: if he's out this year, he gets a medical redshirt and we might get to watch Guarantano throw him TDs....which is cool.

Let's not forget that Guarantano still has to sign a LOI. He also would still have to perform better that Quinton Dormady and Sherrion Jones.

Dont care about them.Bama and Clemson just a little deeper than UT. Who gives a flip about Vandy? A potential major injury to 2 starters in week 2 of camp is a big deal. It just is.

Nobody is saying it isn't.... It's huge and sucks... Just showing how it happens to everyone, as I said. Nobody is saying you can't freak out about how the injuries hurt us.... It's the whole "ohh noo why do we have injuries on camp, something is wrong with us, it's the end of football", that we are refuting.

. This is a result of a dramatic fanbase.
That cuts both ways. This board also has a healthy share of "dramatic" deniers. A guy leaves.... well suddenly someone who was going to be a "beast" really wasn't any good. A guy gets hurt... suddenly they're no big loss.
Also remember Jackson got stonewalled by a freshman DT. Not a great sign.
Example of the above. If Jackson doesn't get hurt then it was just an awesome play by an incredibly talented Fr.... and NOT an indictment of Jackson.

Jackson was also our least athletic OL playing in a system that relies upon taller and more athletic OL.
It is false to say that Jackson was UT's least athletic OG... much less OL.

Jackson was a loss. A SEC quality staff can overcome such losses.... but it is ridiculous to say that losing a starting OL who was NOT being challenged is no problem.... or that people are being "dramatic" for saying it is a problem.

Or maybe something more rational and tangible like the way they are being conditioned or how the O system exposes them?

Well apparently we've lost our best OL and our best WR and we're still 3 weeks away from the season.

With all the injuries, will the expectations fall back to 6-or 7 wins, or will the expectations go up to 9-10 wins?
What are the odds the Vol's have 3 or 4 more players injured before fall camp is over?

As a result of knowledgeable fans reacting to this preseason camp I am currently packing up my deuce and a half and heading out to my underground bunker. I will not return above ground until Feb when all of this is past tense.

Good luck to all.

Posted this in wrong thread.

@brentdougherty: Still hearing it's not that bad with regards to TN WR Marquez North's injury.

If a team has an inordinate number of injuries and especially to one position group (like WR) every year, where does responsibility ultimately lie?

Is it possible, really, that UT is just getting players that are more fragile than everyone else's? How does Bama or other programs manage to be physical but not get this many guys hurt?

Far more overly dramatic ones who think everything is the end of the world every time something happens... That's who he was talking about
