Why doesn't UT schedule a home and home with MTSU? The payout with a return game to Murfreesboro would probably be about 200,000 both ways. MTSU and the Vols Could probably work out something with the Greater Nashvile Sports Authority for a "road" game at Titan stadium, A la Wyoming several years ago. Makes more sense to keep the money in state as opposed paying 750,000+ to a Mac or other Sunbelt team. Of course, Hamilton maybe fearful of the long term effect a loss to the Blue would have on his long term job prospects!

To Hammy's defense, he did ask NC to reschedule later. But they refused to move it to later in the decade. So, it's not like we got scared and ran. I mean, if you call us scared, then they are too because they knew we'd be back up in a few years, and didn't want to schedule us then. But Hammy is right, next year's schedule is going to be brutal enough. Cincy won't be a pushover by any means.
That just goes to show that stars don't mean everything. are they in the mix for a NC every year? nope and never will be but the fact they have done what they have in those years without any 4 or 5 star recruits should be pretty impressive to all the people who believe that the number of stars your recruits have directly effects how good your team will be 100% of the time.Wrong, Cincy is a PUSHOVER. You saw what happened against FL this year, and that Cincy team was their best ever. I think that was like only their second 10 win season in last 100 years. We already have games against Montana, Middle Tennessee, Vandy, and KY that are not fit for TV. WE NEED PRIME TV TIME in order to land recruits. Maybe Hammy needs Saban to schedule our games, Nick had the perfect recruiting tool by playing big games but winnable games against VT and Clemson early on the last two years.
* I looked this up on Rivals. They have Cincy listed with a total of TWO four star players from the years 2006-2009. And those two are Freshman this year.

Having highly ranked classes/recruits is one thing winning games is another. Some coaches seem to be able to win with less others lose with an embarrassment of riches. End of day it does not matter. Either we play them or not and until there is a final word what we say in this thread makes no difference.
Not sure vols fans would travel to Murfreesboro and Nashville in a year to see us play those guys.
Well UNC will definitely use this in recruiting to their benefit. That is bad when you're trying to rebuild a program.
Cincy sucks, try again.I'm still waiting for a good explanation on how the possibility of UNC using this against us with a few recruits will hurt more than playing the game, and them simply embarrasing us on the field 2 years in a row. I think this was a great move by Hamilton, and am glad to see him and DD wising up to the fact that no other teams in the SEC play these impossible OOC schedules, so there's no reason we should either. It only puts us at a further disadvantage because clearly the SEC schedule is tough enough as it is.
