Just an incredible day today for this young man! Coleman now will go down in the record books as not just one of the greatest UT athletes ever, but one of the best in NCAA T&F history.

Coleman won the 60m dash by tying a collegiate record as he crossed the line in 6.45 seconds. The junior had a .09 second margin of victory over Houston’s Cameron Burrell, which is the largest margin of victory in NCAA Championship history and set a NCAA Indoor National Championship meet record. Coleman also set facility record and school record in the 60m dash. His mark also tied for the top mark posted in the world during the 2017 year.

...In the 200m, Coleman made up the stagger on LSU’s Nethaniel Mitchell-Blake by the end of the first turn. Coleman then went on to torch the field with the second-fastest collegiate time in history as he finished in 20.11. Coleman’s mark is the fastest in the world this year...

It doesn't exactly make up for the let downs this year in FB and MBB - but I'll take it. Congrats young man!

It is nice to see us regaining our strength in track.

He was great yesterday, but I read that no one else scored a single point for Tennessee. One man does not a track team make. We need to build and indoor track and do major renovations to the Tom Black Track before we regain our place at the top of track and field.

Coleman was an all-state cornerback in high school. He was actually planning on playing football at Valparaiso University until his senior-year track performances led to offers from bigger schools.

Hmmm, that's interesting since he's been so successful as a sprinter here for years without there being any football crossover talk. (At least that I've seen)

I suppose if you're having that much success in track these days that's where you stay.

Congratulations to Christian Coleman and Volunteer Track & Field.

I really hope our new chancellor and AD find ways to restore Vol T&F. I miss the days of the Dogwood Relays.

In a very small, cheapest way. It is like trying to put out a fire with a water pistol. If you don’t want to see a competitive track team, that is your decision. You don’t have to be a smart a$$ about it.

I'm still confused as to why if someone is fast, that automatically makes them "good" at football. If he was a good football player, I'm sure he would've been playing in college. He may not be able to cut, catch, or throw. Also, maybe he's a non contact kind of guy. Maybe he hates to hit/be hit. Congrats on the great accomplishments in track and field mr coleman! Proud vol here!!

Just need to use their speed...not a requirement to have a nose for the football. UT has some good examples of track men turning a game around, such as Jeff Powell in 86.

Speed is a back breaker in football.
