Tennessee led the SEC in rushing in ‘23 with Wright leading the way. Wright wasn’t among the 3 preseason all SEC teams. Sampson was 3rd team preseason all SEC last year so I guess you could say they knew him. Barely. Hyatt was a kid that lost his position the year before.

Tennessee did lead the SEC in '23 in rushing. Wright was TNs top rusher, but was not top in the nation or the conference:
