No

I coach youth ball in Festus and help with Desoto on game nights. Festus has a kid in 7th grade that will be a pretty good athlete and is adamant about being a Vol. A few years back his family stopped in Knoxville and peeked into Neyland...and that's all she wrote. He was sold.

His dad's the defensive coordinator at the high school and the boy was playing 8th grade basketball last year as a 6th grader. He's a good kid. I've coached his younger brother the past two years in the 9/10 age bracket. I joke that he's going to have to bring his brother with him.

Potosi running back Brandon Bourbon went to one of UT's camps last year with his teammate QB Matt Marler. Bourbon is now at Kansas playing running back. Marler got some advice from Chaney but I don't know that he's had any substantial offers to play football...but then again, I haven't done much checking.

There's a coach in Herculaneum that's also a big Vol fan. I met him during our 7 on 7 passing camps this summer.

Oh ok I hate it here though, no good coaches at all and no one check out my school becuase most of our players don't the grades to get in school anyways. We have a guy who's getting scouted by Michigan but doesn't have grades.

i was gonna be a vol one day too. then i stopped growing at 5'8, and only had a 33 inch vertical and a 40 time of 4.6.... D3 ball should work out for me ok i suppose.

lol but i had a lot of chances to get noticed. we played in the state championship game twice. our QB was getting recruited by Purdue and a WR (who i shut down on a regular basis) was getting recruited by ball state. plus i was All State and ranked 2nd in the state for interceptions. a lot of times its just about getting noticed. and i could have gone D2 no problem, but the D3 school is MUCH better academically. i guess my advice would be dont let it get you down if you dont achieve all of your goals. sometimes you might not get to where you want to be, but you just got to readjust your goals and keep pushing forward. good luck to you.

Thanks, but I always wondered why good people sometimes didn't get recruited I found out that you have to go to camp for coaches to actually start to recruit you.

Nahh not in these times anymore. My buddy got this website to upload all of his stats, video, academics, etc. and for like $500 they sent it out to like 200 schools.

I don't know why this thread turned into this, but:

When I played I was 5-7, 160 and ran a 4.6. I played RB and DB. Both ways. Class 5A in Florida.

But I stopped playing to play tennis - yes I know, tennis. But at least that got me to Tennessee and my love affair with orange began.

Did you go to UT to play tennis? You still play much? I'm in DC now but am a tennis player as well. Spend anytime over at Smoky Mountain Tennis Academy? Not a lot of people realize that Knoxville produces some really good Tennis products (however, like the Colquitt family in football, most are somehow related to the DePalmers)

So you'll only go to Tennessee if we follow you?

No saying it's a guarantee that if I gain a whole bunch of vol followers ill forsure be playing basketball at UT... I'm already no matter what attending the school just don't know if I'd make the team... Followers would boost my
Confidence
