No Way Out - Let’s Burn it Down With Phil

Randy Sanders, Chief, Cutcliff, Cooter, Tee, Steele.

I agree with ride it into the ground for stability. I can remember some Vandy hires that were horrid and they rode them a while. That program sucks. On the flip side, Derrick Mason looked really bad for a couple years and now they look pretty good.

Chief and Cutcliffe were Majors guys that stayed with Phil. He coached here 16 years and hasn't produced a single head coach of note. It's a ridiculous;y bad track record.

Those other 4-6 are regularly in the top15 standings so it cuts pretty well for them. Ill take more talent and average coaching all day everyday. You cant teach a 4.2 40.

And why are they in the top 15 every year? Because they have average to good coaching. Tennessee has not even had average coaching the last 10 years. It’s been bad coaching. We had a couple of top 10 recruiting classes under Butch, but because of bad coaching (not average...bad) we finished 4-8. We had top notch recruiting and average coaching under Fulmer in the 90s. Fulmer’s coaching went from average to bad in the mid 2000s. Recruiting was still there, but coaching got worse. The game passed him by. He lost his edge. He got old, complacent, arrogant, comfortable, whatever you want to call it.

I would be very happy again with average coaching and great recruiting, but we have not had average coaching for a long, long time.

Tennessee football is over. We can’t recruit in Knoxville. We can’t run it on ETSU. We won’t win a game in the SEC for two years in a row. It will be a decade or more before we see a 10 win team.

So let’s give the keys back to Fulmer. I mean can it get any worse? We couldn’t win the OVC. At least he’d “work like heck!”

On another note, I think we should install luxury couch seats in the stadium. Every fan gets a 6 foot sofa seat. Maybe then we could fill our stadium on a couple of games in the next few years.

SOON TO BE FOLLOWED by a Gruden Thread. Filmer"?? You cant make it up!!

Yeah Fulmer was past his prime. I mean he had #2 recruiting class coming in the year we fired him and staff. thats not gonna cut it. Lets just keep scratching off lottery tickets til we find a winner.......
That's just factually incorrect. 2 of Fulmer's last 4 recruiting classes were in the 20s overall, and were like 8-9 overall in the SEC. On average he was a middling SEC recruiter when he was fired.

We'd probably win the MAC/Sun Belt and be competitive in Conference USA/Mountain West/American. There are teams that are better than us in those latter 3 conferences, sometimes obviously so (FAU, Boise St, South Florida, UCF).

Have we found the bottom yet?
Nope. About to though after #2 UGA, #8 Auburn and #1 Alabama. And then we get to go to SCar after getting beat up by the Tide, with a well rested Gamecock squad coming off a bye week. It’s gonna get much, much, much worse.

It's time to just embrace 3-9 and accept that this team needs some type of purge before we can get better.

The only other team we will beat playing like we've played in these first 4 games is Charlotte. And that victory will probably only be by 17-21 points. For comparison purposes App St has already beaten Charlotte by 36 and UMass beat them Saturday by 18.

Vol Nation is responsible for Coach Pruitt being at the helm. WE must stick by our decision for not letting Greg Shitano run our program. Nobody is happy about 2-2 but honestly, asking CJP to beat the Gators with the leftovers from our previous coaching staff is a HUGE reach. Georgia will be twice as good as the Gators, so let's just hope the team eliminates mistakes and make a better showing. Go Vols
