No talent and it shows.....

I'm gonna take my lumps here and say I was actually impressed with Crompton tonight. He got Booed in his own home stadium(which I don't agree with at all, since it's your home team) and still came out firing. 2 TD's, 0 INT's, a few tipped passes that fell innocently to the ground. The negative for him today was he was below 50% completion percentage. He even scrambled under pressure and turned things into positives when they looked pretty bad. Let the bashing begin...

I agree with you lylsmorr, i mean couple passes hit hancock in the face, and those passes behind receivers should've been caught.

True, but to be honest 1 or 2 of those passes behind the receivers were TOUGH to catch. I think 2 of those passes could have been caught legitimately, the others were tough. Come on Crompton, please be breaking through those barriers...

We just need to learn to capitalize on opportunities. Missed field goal, and the special teams didn't show up. It might be better to have cunningham kicking it out of bounds and get a penalty from now on instead.

Finally. Someone who knows what they are talking about.

That's it...

WE ARE NOT VERY GOOD.

Changing qbs wouldn't fix that. Fulmer wouldn't fix it. Kiffin can't fix it. We don't have the ability to play at the level that most expect the TN Vols to be at.

Been buzzed talkin Crompton Trash but I like this post.

Anyone else hear Neyland rocking through the TV tonight?? It was pretty awesome...even though most of the time it took some encouragement from the defense.

As bad as we look at as an offensive unit, we still have a chance to win the game. I mean, the odds were against us, but when I look at this team playing tonight, I can't be mad. They are giving it all for the Vols. We as fans just sit on our asses and demand this and that. I'm proud of my team. I believe we're heading toward a brighter future, but I just feel bad for the seniors.

I agree about the talent issue. The D is playing over its head for the depth on that side of the ball. Monte is coaching up this D to a level about its talent. When he gets some more depth, and talent, look out.

But here is where I have a difference. You can improve bad talent to an extent. Im not expecting 250 passing yards, and 3 TDs. This passing game is going backwards IMO. At some point, (Which I was thinking by the 4th game) we would start to see it.

Hate to break it to you, but Crompton had 259 yards passing and 2 TDs and we still didn't win

The score was 23 -6.

Come on man.

Manning threw for over 400 yrds against UF in 96' when we were down by 35, whats your point?

Agreed, can't blame Crompton this game...as much as the majority of haters on here now want to. Can't blame Hardesty either, he is all heart. I honestly don't know who deserves this blame...defense was winded early because the offense couldn't get going.

we have every bit of talent that auburn brought in tonight.thats just bs...change the dadgum qb

Wrong. Nick Stephens is called pick Nick by the defense for a reason. Our offense is just bad...until we get some talent in, it's gonna be bad.

Yeah the offense couldnt get going because Crompton is the QB.

JC didn't quit. But it is kinda hard to feel good about him pitching it around against a prevent, when we are down 17.

I have no point. Only pointing out that you said 250 yards of passing is what you would like to see, and an improving passing game is also what you would like to see. Well we've got both those.

Our passing has improved every week, not counting Western Kentucky.

UCLA - 93 yards 0 TDs 3 INT
FLA - 93 yards 0 TDs 2 INT
Ohio - 222 yards 2 TDs 1 INT
Aub - 259 yards 2 TDs 0 INT

I actually agree with TBH. Crompton looked dang good the last two drives. I can only hope that gets him in the right mind set for the rest of our games. He has the potential to be great he just doesn't believe in himself. He has made me cry, he has made me angry, and he has made me come to expect the worst, He has basicly beaten me down emotionally and I do think he is the #1 reason we lost tonight. But I will be supporting him from here on out hoping he proves us all wrong in the future. He is a VOL and I wish him/the team the best.

The LARGE majority of those yards were racked up when AU was playing a very deep zone at the end of the game. If you are trying to argue that our passing game was effective, you were not watching the game.

Yeah, the receivers dropping 6-8 catchable passes had nothing to do with it.

Are our fans really this dumb?

I'd say two dropped passes were MOSTLY, but not fully, crompton's fault...other than that, spot on with your post.

Are you watch the same games I am. JC threw 28 passes in the first half against Ohio. Then CLK figured out the only way we would lose, was if he threw 28 more. Hardesty ran for the win. Period. (Add 220 yrds against ohio, is like 125 against an SEC opp.) No Improvement!

Then you have tonights game. Don't have the stats in front of me, but the score was 23 - 6 when AU went into a prevent, and then JC put up some stats. Not that the game was over totally, but AU was fine giving up yards. So when the game was on the line (Quarters 1-3) No Improvement!
