No search firm?

There is no reason to use a search firm. There are only 130 FBS schools ... with assistants, the pool is less than 500 total. Set some criteria and the pool drops to 50 really fast. Emails to agents to see who is available and you’ve got a working list of 12-15. Easy.

No need to hire a search firm for the $$$ fee they will charge.

I watched the presser on WVLT and they absolutely reported that Gruden had cancelled a meeting with UT.

Finally! Why do you hire a person, who has to hire other people to make a decision. Like a really, really important decision.

Hire a search firm to change the sanitation pick up company. Better hire your own guy to run the big show!

Currie just said that there are no plans to hire a search firm at this time... Should this be taken to mean that they already have a particular candidate in mind?

No, I think it means it's going to be handled internally - just like they did, I presume, with all the previous hires. To me it says big money boosters (read: Haslam) will control the decision, once again. Hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

Personally think it's never a bad idea to get secondary opinions, especially from professionals who sole job it is to evaluate and discuss potential coaching candidates for prospective schools. Gives you an idea as an AD of where you stand versus where a group of professionals who have handled and assisted various hires stand. There is nothing wrong with a second opinion. Not a good look for Mr Currie, IMO it's a sign that he probably has very little say in the hiring process - except to submit names he thinks are viable for the job. The big money makes the decision, IMO. Currie is just there to guide the process and make the transition as smooth as possible for the next head coach.

If Currie doesn't already have an LOU in place with somebody then he needs to be fired. I'm not impressed with this clown at all, and if its actually true that he "made the decision late last night" he might be as retarded as he appears.

Because our joke of an AD, as it turns out, is friends with Shiano, and knew that would be his go-to first choice for the job. This is in spite of the numerous other candidates that do not have a questionable history.

Stop this deal and approach Frost, Norvill, Kiffen, or anyone else who has proven they can coach at a high level.

I'm certainly not a fan of expensive search firms but after seeing what this moron AD did I say we either need to hire a firm or fire an AD ... preferably both !!! :banghead2:
