I am just wondering today if we stay on the pace we have been on as far as commits is it possible to fill all of our scholarships. Because it would be cool but it would take all the surprise out of the recruiting. then mess with the gray shirts ( i.e. swafford ). I know stupid thinking but just a thought..

Trust me, several of the players who have verbally committed to the University will change their mind between now and February.

(1) Should we begin to get alot of 5* players, then some of the one's committed now will de committ because they may be concerned about being beat out for playing time. If you are a 3* tailback, the last thing you want to see is for the university to get a committment from a 5* tailback.

(2) Should we win only 5 games this season, then other programs will negative recruit against us and some of the committed players will change their minds.

So, the players that actually sign on NSD will be much different than the small list that we have now.....

There's always going to be stud players who wait until NSD to make their commitment. If Butch and this staff believe they have a good shot at these players, they will hold a ship for them. It's nice having a bunch of guys committed but Butch will have to continue working them to keep them. Other schools are not going to leave them alone.

Id bet against you on that. While that is sometimes the case I dont see it happening with any of our current commits. Payne would be the most likely but still, dont see it happening with any of our current commits.

Some may change their minds, but I doubt it will be many because the nucleus of higher rated kids plus legacies have bought into a new and improved program with new coaches. Less likely to bolt with a poor season because they know it is a retooling.

I don't think in general as many early commits flip as it may seem. Rivals and 247 love to build drama towards signing day but in the end most early commits stick with their first choice. Now if 3-4 of our early commits were from Texas, California etc they I would agree. IMO we don't lose more then one (if that) from our current list.

Then why hasn't Travon Paulk decommitted because of Hurd's 5 stars? I don't really buy your argument. Regardless of how many stars one or all of the ratings sites give a kid, and how many they give another commit, if the kid is a baller then in his mind he can compete with anyone for the starting spot. He might decommit if, after the 5* commits, the coaches suggest he might look elsewhere, or he might later transfer after a year or 2 it becomes obvious he will not see the field, but if he believes he can compete with anyone, he won't decommit.

This coaching staff will not allow commitments to be taken for granted. They will continue to call and text everyone of them. If anything, they will be more committed ten months from now than they are now.
The numbers will work out. CBJ has a plan and it isn't to play for a tie and send it to overtime.

Only speculative though. You forgot to mention that. You can't predict what high schoolers do.

Thank the Lord I don't trust you, and I'm comforted by the fact that just because you say something with conviction...doesn't mean it's true.

Get on troll.

We have room for 30-31 players this year. With the type of players Butch is bringing in coupled with the number of spots we have available, I would LOVE for space to be an issue.

As long as CBJ let's the commits be a part of the process then they will stay. They will have a sense of ownership with this recruiting class. IMHO

The less surprises the better in my opinion. Seems like 1 out of every 5 surprises in recruiting is a good surprise.
