The lack of love for each other's team is nothing new and it has been that way for generations. I imagine that the guy writing the article is probably a yankee who does not understand the nature of the rivalry. The day that we start liking, respecting, whatever, is the day that the game means less and less to both programs. I was glad to see that no one was fighting or was hurt. Other than that, that is what you get from BOTH fan bases when Alabama and Tennessee take the field. If you did not know that, you have not been a SEC football fan for long.
I had my 10 year old son with me. Before the game on the way into the stadium, we had more than one Tenessee fan yell and cuss at us. My boy is a bit on the innocent side and did not understand it, and I just told him that is the way it is for this rivalry. He did get to witness a couple of drunk Bama fans also, so I got to explain to him that there are good fans and bad fans for every team. If I ever heard him say the word f***, he would probably get his mouth smacked.
In the first half, I thougth we were in for another classic. The offense of pass interference call on TN was BS!!! The fumble call was very close, could have went either way. As far as Bama making cheap shots, that is BS. Tennessee got pounded Satuday night. They were dropping like flies in the second half, nothing cheap or dirty about it. John Parker Wilson took more than one dirty, late hit, but you will not hear any Bama fans whining about it. He got up, put a band aide on his chin, and directed the Tide to 29 points.
That is 3 out of the last 4, TN fans, and I can not see a change in the near future. Good times come and go, and right now is the time for the Alabama Crimson Tide. I hate getting beat by TN, but it is something that I had to live with for several years. Getting beat by Bama is something you will have to live with this year and for the next several years. Hopefully, The Vols will make it more competetive than the last two. I have heard some sour grapes from Vol fans I know, and a couple will not even speak to me. I never acted that way when TN beat Bama. TN got spanked on Saturday night, and 10 calls could have went the Vols way, and the outcome would have not been different. The Vols offense is horrible. They could not score on Bama's scout team. I have news for ya also, Kentucky's defense is alot better than Tennessee's. I imagine that getting beat by Kentucky and probably Vandy, is going to hurt even worse than Bama. Hey Vols, you lost, and you lost big. It is a great day to be alive!!! Roll Tide!!!!! :victory:
