typed this while on the phone at work! basically what I am saying is he shouldnt of fired Fulmer just found a young OC to take over the OC job (not a clawfense) we would of still been in good shape

Dude...it's "would have" and "should have". There is NO proper use of "would of" and "should of" or "shouldn't of" in the English language.

Bowling Green didn't have any trouble grasping the Clawfense. The problem is that Fulmer didn't trust anyone to run the offense except Cutcliffe. No matter who else he brought in, Fulmer was not going to let the guy do his job.

I think we only play one team this year that is better than Oregon, and it isn't the Gators. Don't give up on a decent year just yet.

Understanding where we are is not giving up. We are a 4-6 win team. Period.

1. Who do you think gave Hamilton the okay to fire Fulmer?

2. Who is going to be the next governor of the state, whom gets to appoint the BOT that has the power to hire or fire and AD?

3. Who is the father of the answer to #2?

If you connect these dots and come up with a circle, I'd say that Hamilton is pretty safe for now despite what's going on. If the NCAA comes down hard on the university, particularly on football, then things might change.

All kinds of theories out there on Fulmer and the next Gov. of Tennessee....

I've heard that as well but I do wonder if he'd even want to be just the AD? I thought he was still pursuing a head coaching gig.

Phillip is a nice man. But we do not need him as AD.
There's a guy at TCU that would be great. And he can bring his current coaching staff as well IMO.

It is a proven loser of a business model. He couldn't hire assistants, much less a head coach. I don't think it will ever happen, but at some point I also have to admit that the boosters (who pay for the damn program) are just as culpable for our current situation as Mike Hamilton is. The idea that Hamilton can breathe without their permission is laughable. I wouldn't put anything past them.

In my opionon the only thing close to right that Hamiltons done was hire Bruce Pearl and with the recent news thats taken a blow now. I just think hes got a great business sense, but has no clue on how to be the head man of a football program!

Hamilton has to be on shaky ground right now, no doubt about it. I have been in his corner until lately, but the bad news coming out of our athletic department is really starting to pile up.

I'm happy with CDD. I think he will get the job done and i believe that the team will get better throughout the season. 40 points better? Time will tell. I think the team will rebound nicely. Remember how you felt mid-way through the 2nd quarter? I think that feeling will come back and stay for a while.

As for Hamilton, the fact that top coaches didn't even want to talk about the job and his obsession for Will Muschamp, kinda rubs me wrong. I think there are probably 10 coaches in the nation who would't leave their programs. But, there are how ever many left thac would leave, given the right money. Why those bigger hires (stoops, TCU guy, boise guy, etc.) didn't even wnat to talk is behond me. I think we're a top ten program and i think we shoud'n thave to put on the full court press to land a coach like that. I just don't think Hamilton handles the hiring process well and doesnt go to bat like he should.

Preposterous; what AD in the country overrules the HC in that type of decision?

Take a look at FSU and Texas. They already had and have there next head coach in waiting. This would of been the proper way. :eek:k:Hamilton had his chance..... When Cutcliff came back Hamilton should of set him up to take over for Fulmer 2008 would of sealed Fulmers fate and Cutliff would of taking over. Instead that deal was never worked out and Cutcliff ran to Duke.

Thanks for the education on the English Language, but if you are correcting English Language on a football blog your wife is probably getting it on with the pool boy:whistling:

All this talk about firing Hamilton is NONSENSE. He should be commended for dumping Fulmer when he did--look at psu and fla. state, they stuck with their old, burned out, title-winning coaches much longer! It's not easy getting rid of a guy who's won a national title and gotten tight with the board, etc. Kiffin was a good hire, in my view--we just got unlucky that 1) the usc job suddenly came open, which was totally unexpected; and 2) that kiffin got hired for it as he wasn't the top choice. Hamilton should and will be accountable for the Dooley hire, so let's see what happens. I wish he'd hired an offensive guru--that's what the Vols desperately need, IMO.
