Per ESPN bottom line, quoting Roger Goodell.

Hopefully, this increases our chances of keeping #14 for 2 more years instead of 1

don't bet on it and whats worse it may entice Tim Tebow to stay another year at Florida. But back to Berry. For his position which is a place to get injured easily especially th way he throws his body around with body jarring hits. I hate to see him go but for him to get the best payday if he is healthy all next year then he should go. Safetys dont get the big money anyways so might as well help yourself with an extra season of getting paid in the NFL rather than playing for free taking almost the same pounding in the brutal SEC.

The 2010 Draft will follow his junior season (draft occurs after NYD), so I don't think this announcement affects Berry either way.<br />

If anything, it makes it more likely for him to leave next year. Before, the new rules would be in place the first year he is NFL-eligible. Now, the rules would not be in effect until after his senior year, thus creating an incentive to leave early.

Tebow was going to stay and pull a manning anyways unless they told him he would be the first pick

I heard espn talking about this a few weeks ago on the radio, I think it was Todd Mcshane, isn't he the draft guy?

explain. the owners nor the league can just put in a salary cap for rookies. they have to have an agreement with the players union.
