No. No "these things" are NOT always on the coaches. It's a poor mind whose only "excuse" for team performance is always coaching. There is -also- pure athleticism, limits of physical capability, execution, esprit de corp, individual attitude, luck, etc. And all of that for the opposition.
But these folk who go after coaching like it's the only thing ... All the ball control, protection, receiving technique issues we had at A&M are "fundamental coachable skills", and these skills have been drilled in to the players since the first day of Pop Warner, Jr. High, High School B-Team and Varsity. At the college level, you can only cover each fundamental so much, and you know with the past 4 games, the Vols coaches have. But then IT IS ON the players to execute. I have no patiece anymore with the "it's all on the coaches" types. They deserve no respect. None. Small minded individuals who can't see a bigger picture. Makes one wonder if they're the type who always want to blame their own shortcomings in life on their "coach/boss/supervisor".
Tennessee offense hung more yards on John Chavis and the A&M defense than any team in the history of A&M football.
Injuries, turnovers and penalties did the Vols in yesterday. Hindsight has 20-20 and the coaches will deal with these in practice as you know they have been anyway.
I'm proud of the whole team, coaches and all for the no quit grit they have.
