i was on rivals and saw an article about the rankings of the top defensive backfields in the nation this year. taylor mayes was in the picture with the article, and i thought, "well i wonder where we are ranked, given the fact that we're stacked back there plus berry is the best safety in the nation." i open the article to find that florida is number 1, usc is 2, and tennessee is nowhere. not even an honorable mention. does anybody feel like that is a travesty, a sham, and a mockery (traveshamockery)? im not saying we should be number 1, but while clicking the link i imagined us in the top 3 at least. thoughts?

Who cares what the frauds think? We all know that our secondary is loaded and is in great shape for the future!

We have only one proven player in our secondary. No way this unit is top 3 in the nation.

yeah and u gotta remember all the turnovers that those other secondaries get from their pass rush... they get credit on paper for those interceptions. We know that our guys made plays on the ball for ours.

i see your point but berry, rogan, evans, and anderson deserve to have their names mentioned right? thats a good secondary if you ask me. we will see this season but come on. we werent even listed as a team to watch. eric berry alone should give us that.

This.

We don't even know who's going to be starting for us.

Our #1 CB is likely going to be a guy whos never even seen the field before.

Our FS and #2 CB could both be freshman.

I agree. However, Mays didn't have any and Berry leads the Nation and could, with an average season, break the NCAA record (int. yacs)

Mays didn't have nearly as much chance as Berry though.

Mays was basically playing a cover 1 30 yards off of the LoS 90% of the time.

He probably could have had a couple if he went for that instead of a huge hit, but still

I do think Evans will be good though even with him never really playing before, but we just haven't really proved enough to throw us in there with the elite group.

No. Berry, great as he is, is still just one out of four DBs on the field. If the other three don't produce, then it doesn't matter how well Berry plays.

Rogan is a decent player, but not elite. Evans and Anderson have never even started a game before.

Berry is only one man, no other DB's are proven, at least not to the point of being top 10 corp. in country.

If there are freshmen playing in the secondary this year, Barry may have a difficult time finding the ball on his side of the field this season.

Hello!

YOu guys have a True freshman starting at FS and a True freshman co-starting at one corner...

Unless all of them are just as good as Eric Berry was as a true fresh, then this rotation does not deserve to be mentioned anywhere near the top 3.

Where the defensive backfield ranks starting the season is irrelevant just like team rankings. Where they rank at season's end means everything, so who really cares at this point.
