I agree in part with this. People should always protest and call attention to government overreach.

Its just that Trump has been so much worse than any of the others in that he turns every part of government he can into partisan hackery with the sole purpose to do his bidding in this four year revenge tour. Add in some of the toxic cabal he surrounds himself with and it just makes it that much worse.

If you think trump is going to be over in three years, more power to you. This is a takeover plain and simple. I dont think anyone from either side has really figured that out yet.

I do think Trump's personal influence will wane, as it does with all lame ducks and then former presidents. In Trump's case, I agree that he will have great influence over his base, and he will be in demand for endorsements from GOP candidates in the most MAGA areas of the country, the deep south for example. But I doubt he will have the ability to threaten Senators and Reps to kill legislation, for example border policy reform or TSA funding, as he has done in the last 2 years, because while he wanted to keep those controversies brewing for his own political purposes, politicians will only want to appear to appease him in the future, not actually do it.
