No Heisman for Tennessee???

no no... don't bring logic into this.

are you implying that if Peyton had lit it up against Florida ESPN would've shown his highlights over and over again for the heisman voters to be reminded of constantly? Surely you're not implying that.

Not at all especially during the Stevie days...Back in those days if they could have given it to him again they would have....

I don't want one of our players to be in the same category as andre ware, geno torretta and rashaun salaam and that will be fine with me.
Why do so many people treat the Heisman as if it's the award for who they think will have the best pro career? So many people point out the NFL Heisman duds without mentioning Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Herschel Walker, Tony Dorsett, Eddie George and Ricky Williams when he runs out of money.

a monstrous performance against his biggest rival and the most important game of the regular season helped out A LOT.

A ton of Heisman votes had already been submitted before that game.

When Woodson was having a one INT, one touchdown game, Manning was throwing for 523 yards....and lost ground in the polls.

Against an awful Kentucky team...

I could care less about individual awards. The two teams in the SEC that have won more SEC and national championships Alabama and Tennessee) have zero Heismans.

:eek:k: Nothing worse than listening to ND fans bragging about their Heisman Trophies.

Are you saying that Charles Woodson was the best defensive player in the history of college football?

If not explain how he won the trophy.

Seems to me the Heisman is more of a curse than an award. Just look at the guys who have won it over the past 20 years...

Not much of a career after college.

Here is a list of Quaterback Heisman Winners that I remember.. How well did they do in the Pros?

Steve Spurier
Pat Sullivan
Gino Torreta
Andre Ware

I can't remember the name of the won that beat Peyton, and I guess no one else can either.

His name is all over this thread. Charles Woodson.

He hasn't made quite the splash that Peyton has, but he has had and is still having a decent/good career.

There's an awful lot of apathy floating around here. I say we need to start winning SEC championship and get back some national respect before we can start talking about Hypemans.

Fulmer has never been one to go out of his way to lobby for his players to win that dumb trophy- why would he start now?

A rare moment of humor from Phillip...
GVX
...It was clear Fulmer had lost his interest in the buzz of the Heisman. He said he hoped an SEC player would win the award this season, at which point he was informed that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow had won on Saturday.
"Oh, did he?" Fulmer responded. "I didn't even know."

Here's hoping we've finally heard the last of Tim Terrific for awhile...

Who gives a rats a** about Hype-Man Trophy. The only trophies we should be interested in is an SECC trophy and a NC trophy!!:rock:

The ESPN Game Day guys dissed the UT fans over their reaction to Peyton losing that vote. Chris Fowler referred to us as Trailer Trash. In addition, I recall some kind of riff between Michigan coaches and Fulmer over his voting for Nebraska one year that resulted in UM being a disputed NC that year. There has been bad blood between the two schools ever since.

woodsen was the best player on the #1 team in the country. peyton was not.

if you guys start competing for NC again you will get another shot at the heisman.

droski, it is pointless to argue with the Vol faithful over this. I have learned in the last 24 hours or so that the scars from Manning not winning it still run deep here. Until a UT player wins it, most will give the award no heed. If you bring it up in a year when a player from a rival school wins it, you are debating a wall.
