I'm conviced that Tennessee will never win a heisman trophy. When we have finished second the most times w/o winning one(4), who needs the stupid thing. I don't want one of our players to be in the same category as andre ware, geno torretta and rashaun salaam and that will be fine with me.

i agree that manning got shafted in '97. but the award went to the right person this year. as long as brennon didn't get it, i wasn't going to complain

as they say on the radio sports talk shows, the heisman is essentially an offense award, but I tell you what...I believe Eric Berry is a defensive guy who may be seriously heisman worthy as soon as next year.

Add Gerald Jones, that is if he shows the same brilliance he has when he played this year

A pure defensive player will never win the heisman. The voters love offense.

a safety? people don't get on the list for solid tackling, pass breakups and a few interceptions. That's what we need from him.

I was really surprised to see when I read the list today of past Heisman winners that Alabama didn't have a winner.

Woodson was also a kick returner, and had some big punt returns that got him the heisman.

Seems to me the Heisman is more of a curse than an award. Just look at the guys who have won it over the past 20 years...

Not much of a career after college.

You're bitter and you have sour grapes. Deep down, you know you would love to see a Heisman trophy here in Knoxville.

Lets not start to kid ourselves.

If Percy Harvin wins next year, I'll be physically ill. Florida's winning everything: 2 straight national titles in basketball, national title in football, heisman trophy---hopefully, UT wins the SEC next year to keep them quiet for awhile.

a monstrous performance against his biggest rival and the most important game of the regular season helped out A LOT.
Since the highlights were played and replayed countless times by ESPN before the Hypesman balloting began.....

no no... don't bring logic into this.

are you implying that if Peyton had lit it up against Florida ESPN would've shown his highlights over and over again for the heisman voters to be reminded of constantly? Surely you're not implying that.
