Pruitt has been involved in 3 national championships, how many has Leach? Also heard Leach was very hard to get along with. Guys there is a lot of things out there that fans don't know about. I trust Phil. Hell at least he is interviewing instead of just offering the contract like Curry was

Nothing like a little negativity to help improve things..

Do the people around you call you Eeyore to your face or just behind your back.

Maybe you have a crystal ball that none of the rest of us do but if not why not think positive as a default?

He is just a 'like' fisherman, ignore him

Could we have gotten Leach here? Possibly. Would he have gotten curb stopped by biggest rival Florida, Georgia, Alabama? Like he did biggest rival while at Wazzu—Washington—you know the team Petersen coaches? More than likely.

So coordinators are getting crest for NCs now?

Why not hire a WR coach from a National Championship team? What if you played on an NC team? Does that make you head coaching material?

Leach is ver very good as a HC. For those of you pointing out he hasn't been hired by any big name football schools, there is a reason for that. He is impossible to control and admins are terrified of him due to the fact he is likely more intelligent and is far more fearless than themselves. Fanbases should celebrate his attitude and if he lands a job where he has access to facilities that will help him recruit I would be willing to bet he is in the playoffs regularly.

Why don't you spend some time looking at the difference in the level of athletes on the two teams.

I mean when Mike Leach is interested in the job and you hire Kevin ****ing Steele or Jeremy Pruitt - I think there is plenty wrong with that.

Why the love affair with a coach that has a .600 career winning % ( Leach) and has only won more than 9 games once in 17 years? How many championships ( conference or National) has he won? In addition, he is a loose cannon. Give me Pruitt all day long over Leach.

Let's look at the coaches of the 4 teams in this years playoffs
1. Smart- 2nd year was DC at Bama before being named GA HC
2. Riley- was Coordinator last year, 1st year as HC
3. Dabo- was coordinator at Clemson
4. Saban- only one that. Was a HC before

Most SEC head coaches were successful Coordinators before becoming HC in the SEC. Check the stats!

I really don’t see Pruitt. Just give Pruitt A place to gain HC experience to replace the aging Saban. Pruitt is Alabama as you get. Just another Kiffin in the making. Tee makes so much more sense for HC. Fulmer hires him he’s sick.

I'd take Jeremy Pruitt over some Butch Jones or Derek Dooley type every day of the week. Is he a splash hire? No... but this dude may be the real deal.. What is the difference in this guy and Kirby going to Georgia? Besides the fact that Kirby played at Georgia, there is no difference.

Write the contract with a huge buyout in the first 5 years to prevent Pruitt from jumping ship to Bama. Honestly I think Dabo will be Bama's next coach anyway.

The Leach love is ridiculous. The only reason he gets mentioned so much is because of the pirates crap and his high flying passing game. Which, to his credit, produces statistics and thats it. He is a one dimensional coach.

People around here say Leach is an offensive mastermind. Well if that were the case, why didnt teams like Florida, Texas, USC, Georgia, Auburn, FSU, Oregon, Miami, PSU, Michigan or Oklahoma hire him when they had vacancies?

Yes this exactly and ol Phil is gonna throw his shoe in my face tomorrow... "gonna get a TN guy" my @ss.. Pruit (great defenses btw) is an ALABAMA GUY!?!?! through and through and you're leaving Leach and Kiffin on the table!?!?... to hire THIS?? so yea... I'm PISSED

So pissed in all caps. Maybe you are so delusional, especially for wanting kiffen.

If you walk into a room and think everyone is crazy, maybe it's not them but you.

You have no idea how well this may go, so sit back, relax and go V-O-L-S!

I think history, and not just TN history, shows we will be back at this in a few years. At this point I am of the opinion someone is going to have to approach this way different. Change the paradigm completely. "We" (universities) are not in control of our destiny with the traditional approach and are way too susceptible to change.

It doesn't work so why are we repeating the process? At this point I'd start to look at a different approach.

Are you an idiot? I am not sure what constitutes a winner in your book but each of these guys have been very successful. Some people’s ignorance is amazing, if you would be honest, you would admit that you know nothing about either of them. Not sure what Leach has done that makes him so special, nothing.

Good God, sounds like Butch/Dooley all over again.

Same reason they didn't hire Pruitt or Tucker. They did not believe they could win.
Yet here we are.

I'm happy the fans overthrew the Schiano hire which led to Currie's firing. I feel like we (the fans) have taken the program back. We have Fulmer as our AD who knows football and I believe he is tired of looking at a defense that is weak. GO VOLS!

Leach is a good coach but also a circus clown. I'm thankful he isn't at UT. Look at how many of the jobs are being filled by successful coordinators. They are doing just as well if not better. Beilima was a successful head coach who failed. Butch had decent success, failed.
Sumlin, failed. McElwain, failed.

I have asked this question twice and have not gotten an answer. Assuming it is Pruitt, what team that's hired a new coach already would you not trade Pruitt for? I will also assume Kiffin to Oregon for the heck of it.

I see that Pruitt has never been a head coach, not even on High School level. What does he know about total control of a team?
