Fuente's buyout is currently 6 million. It reduces to 5 million after December.

His buyout, plus Butch and Butch's assistants are not worth that kind of investment to get Fuente.

Fuente can develope a QB, Fuente>Butch I'd take Fuente as HC of Tn any day..

Fuente is the best coach available IMO. Much better than the names being mentioned here routinely. I don't think we get him, because VT will offer him a raise, but Fuente is the dream hire. And much better than Gruden (who hasn't actually coached in a decade and hasn't coached college in nearly 30 years when he was a grad assistant).

Yea... a man who has his team ranked in year two is worse than a man who is embarrassing a program and sets new records every week for being terrible.

Really? The buyout is what makes Fuente a no for you? I swear sometimes we can be a penny wise and a pound stupid.

He could have been a good fit at Tennessee.

But a hard pass on another coach that got beat by the current coach who Tennessee is firing because of incompetence.

Spending 20 million in buyouts and a new contract for a head coach (not even counting assistants) is not a sound investment for a coach like Fuente.

Especially when there are other coaches out there with zero buyouts and much more name recognition.

Not sure how much experience Currie has with hiring a great coach. He has experience/involvement dismissing a great coach, but many think Butch Jones is not a great coach.

The only outcome of Currie calling Fuente, will be Fuenta getting a hefty raise and a 3-year extension from VT.
