No football for Youtube TV ?

100% positive.

I tried to watch the end of the North Dakota state game after yttv shut espn down and the espn plus app wouldn’t play it or anything else airing on espn channels.

Then I went to espn plus website and researched it and it says plainly that you can’t watch espn tv programming without a service provider.

There is no point then to the app IMO.
The espn app worked for me for the NDSU game last nite but did not work this morning (yttv subscriber, well make that ex-yttv subscriber)... I went with fubo for this week.

I agree with you on the bad position Google has with respect to Disney. It would be interesting to know how much Disney is getting from YTTV. It surely has to be north of $40M which is not enough to be a problem for Disney as a whole. I wonder if Google would consider buying CBS as a competitive move.
That's all well above my knowledge of the market. Google is aggressive when they dominate a market to buy or squish smaller competition.

This is different. They got to TV streaming late and made a big splash and DO have the best user experience by far. What they don't have is leverage to hurt Disney in any way. Maybe they take a run at CBS or Disney itself but they're going to need to pay their competitor whatever he asks again and again and again. I just don't see that as a good business to stay in.

You think Google will exit the streaming market? I wonder what Google would pay for Disney.

I don't know if Google will leave but I just think it's in a very lousy business position. They're rich, they're resourceful, and they're ruthless.

I just don't think Google leaves itself in the position it's in today: being at Disney's whim every few years.

What they're gonna do? I'm out.

I think they're still negotiating but Disney has about 15% of their channels hostage at the moment. Getting them back is going to cost money AND they'll have to repeat that negotiation in a few more years.

Folks are correct.

1. Subscribers jump to Hulu = Disney win.
2. YTTV signs and pays up and raises rates leading to #1 = Disney wins.
3. Rinse and repeat next contract negotiation.
Solution - Google Buys Disney as a bump in the road!

Taking FuboTV for a week trial on elite. We have been using YTTV for years but this is a tough blow to lose these channels in my house, even if temporarily. Day one of Fubo has been good. No streaming issues, more channels, some 4K content, decent interface, fan view is cool. This might be a good change.

I blame Disney in all of this. Disney is making a profit either way it goes. They wanted YTTV to charge their customers more.
Yep, they also know that people will get mad and move to Hulu (which Disney owns).

In s couple of days/weeks they will come to an agreement with YTTV where they get a slight bump in pay from Google to carry the Disney owned channels. It's a Win/Win for Disney they will have siphoned off customers from Google and made money off them as well.

That's why you don't let it get to this point unless they plan on going without Disney and be a streaming service that don't cater to people who watch sports. My bill has dropped 20 dollars a month to 49.99 so they may say to hell with it and if you watch sports go to others and if not come here. I know what I will do the only reason I pay for TV is because of sports. You can get the rest for free.

Tired of it all. Going back to cable today. Stopping all yttv, and other apps coming in. Showing my age but would love old times with a cable coming to tv with channels on it to watch.

People are just going to rip it and air it on google anyway. not to mention all the click, click, clicks from people looking for it.

Wonder if Google has thought about forming their own sports network and goes after, say the SEC? Would be interesting, start some competition that might make it more difficult for someone like Disney to play games like this. In the meantime, don't care if it is on or not. Love college football, but got a list of books to read, places to see, things to do.

They do not want me to watch; fine, I can oblige them.

I have ROKU. Waaayyyy more excellent, FREE content to be found than any sane person who has a life beyond Television watching could ever need or want. That said... I added YTTV Specifically and only to enjoy NCAA Football and the VOLS. If that’s gone for good, I have NO interest or need for YTTV and will be canceling it.

I get that... but I’ll NEVER go back to paying a year-around monthly cable bill as long as my ROKU is offering the enormous amount of excellent content I’m enjoying. The choices of what to watch, and WHEN to watch it is incredible compared to the costs and limitations of monthly cable service.

Those pesky apps and the unlimited content they provide. Enjoy your commercials sir.

Hi Don,

We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal with Disney to return their content to YouTube TV while preserving a $64.99/mo. price for our members. We’ve already started to restore access to Disney networks like ESPN and FX, including their live and on-demand content, as well as any recordings that were previously in your Library. We will also be turning on your local ABC stations over the course of the day. Don’t worry, your personal preferences and recommendations will be just as you left them.

As we promised a $15 discount while the Disney content remained off platform, we will still honor a one-time credit for all impacted Base Plan members.

For active members who have not yet received that $15 discount on their monthly bill, you will automatically receive this one-time credit on your next bill with no action needed. Note that your bill in Settings will not reflect this credit until you have been charged. Members who are in a paused state will receive this credit one month after their first charge. Verizon-billed users will automatically receive this as a one-time discount of $15 on their next bill. After that, the monthly price will revert back to $64.99 for new and existing members.

For any of you who were impacted and have initiated the cancellation process, we will still honor the one-time $15 credit on your bill if you resume your membership before you lose access. Visit tv.youtube.com/membership and click ‘Add’ to return the Base Plan to your membership. Note, you will still see a $64.99 price upon re-activating your membership, but a one-time discount will be reflected in your next bill.

We apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience as we continued to negotiate on your behalf. We also appreciate Disney's partnership and willingness to work towards an agreement.

As always, thank you for being a YouTube TV member.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team
