No excuses for CBJ in 2017

I have my doubts about next season and Butch Jones, but I'm not ready to write off our boys just yet. We could struggle to a bowl game or win the East. The incoming assistants, S&C overhaul, and the next recruiting class are critical. Jones knows his ass is scorching: we will see if he can save his career at Tennessee.

Why to we have to sit around and wait on a lame duck coach to be fired. He will not change his offense. The d will not improve. And now he's trying to bring in JUCOS that will set the program back two more years. Doesn't make much since to me!

Let's hope not...let's hope we run the table...but that's thinking like a Vol fan...

John Brice is saying he has to go 9-3 with the east title or 10-2 without it to save his job. It's not gonna happen.

I think Brice is dead on it. 2017's expectations will be the same as 2016 except that we likely aren't going to be as good and our competition in the East should be better.

Butch really needs to hope that Georgia and Florida don't show much improvement next year. If we lose to Florida and Georgia, then lose to Alabama and LSU (the opponents we draw from the West don't do us any favors once again), that's 4 losses right there. That's not even including any "slip up" losses like we had this year.

How do you know he wants to save his career at Tennessee? If the rumors are true that he wants out, he may just stick to the status quo and take the buyout.

I can't see Hart forcing his hand on the assistant coach overhaul, and it would have to happen before the new AD gets here if you want to pick guys from the top shelf.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

Since when does looking for one or two Juco CBs set us back two years?

Can we please merge this  💩?

I have read in several threads that Butch will not be here after next year and now Brice has this, where are people getting this if UT has to wait on an AD, is there someone who has made the decision Butch is gone after next year and if so why can't they make that decision for this year?

It helps his coaching resume to be successful here, in case he bails for another program. I believe the rumors that his agent has been poking around, but if it is because of his unhappiness here or angling for a raise and extension (as was mentioned by Swain I believe), I'm not sure.

I really had hope for Butch after last season but that hope is gone. I believe he has reached his potential here. This team looks undisciplined, disorganized, and possibly disinterested. Even with the injuries, we should not lose to SC and Vandy. If Kentucky and Missouri had played defense, we would have lost those too. App St. and Ohio worried me but now the patten is much clearer. We are regressing.

We're not paying his buyout, so Butch will be back next year. I want to hope he can win the east and at least be competitive in the SECCG, but I seriously doubt this will happen. And that would probably be just postponing the inevitable. In reality, I think he has a short leash with a new AD and probably doesn't make it through the season.

I've been a fan for over 40 years, and I will be till the day I die. These last 10 years have just been pathetic. I have come to hope for the best but expect the worst. I hope something changes that soon, but I don't see anything to suggest that.

They are pulling it out of their ass...if butch wins the bowl game he's got back to back 9-4 seasons...that's not going to get him fired because the people making that decision are a bit wiser than the keyboard cowboys on Volnation...

When, oh when will these threads end? Do some just like to beat a dead horse? :horse::horse:
I believe Butch is here next year unless he opts out. With that said, I of course hope he does well. And, he could. Let's watch how recruiting closes out and which assistants are hired. Also, if Stoops hangs around, it won't be unusual for the defense to make great strides in his second year (sometimes, that first year can be a struggle with adjustments).

John Brice on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville reported the stipulations yesterday. He is an "insider".

You can bet your boots that lessons were learned this year. part was bad decisions other was "stuff" just happens. If Butch is here next year I say the comments have reason to be a lot less caustic about the season. It's gonna be that way, just wait

Coach Butch jones- "I will never use injuries as an excuse"

Coach Butch jones after a loss--- "well we have a number of injured players"

Florida had 12 starters out against LSU. They beat them in Baton Rouge. Yet Lyle wants to use injuries as an excuse for losing to South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
