no coach will accept the job and recruiting will be impossible now

I think maybe now we should have remained skeptic let him bring in Schiano and if by year 3 we are not competing for SEC championships then went and raise hades. We could have marched on the campus emailed politicians etc and killed two birds with one stone fired currie and schiano. We would have valid reason for Currie veing fired as he would have made his hire and his hire failed. Now well we have tied his hands no big time coach will come here. Some up and comer that might or might not be dooley 2.0

IGNORANT EAST TENNESSEE HICKS

IGNORANT FANS REACTED TO THIS.

I am not sure where you got your PhD that makes you so enlightened, but I am about tired of being called ignorant. East TN is one of the few places that has not fallen lockstep in line with the rest of the perverted nation and I for one like that. We are an independent bunch.

Just nonsense.

Coaches are in the business of coaching. If the conditions are right, folks will take the job.

Personally, I think UT needs an SEC guy. I'd love to have a UT grad, but a guy that would stay 10 years, sure.

Les Miles would crawl naked over broken glass to take the job. Don't worry so much.

I totally agree with you, but I don't believe we will pay to get a good coach. I hope I am wrong, but with Currie's choice of Schiano it shows the type he is looking for. Yes I believe Les Miles would come to Tn, but we are gonna have to pay him what he is worth to get him as well as any other good coach.

Even ESPN acknowledges we, along with Fl.and Ne., are a team with the history that should legitimately aspire to top 10 heights yearly. True story. On Sportscenter last night.
Also, they seem to be putting more, emphasis on Currie, and the administration for this recent fiasco and much less on the fans. Said the administration should have known it's fan base better. I had steeled myself for the segment but was pleasently surprised. Also said 10 or 20 years from now we would look back and say UT fans changed college football forever.

OP I have to disagree in a sense, because there was a valid reason for strong opposition. I was ok with Schiano’s coaching credentials initially then I heard about the Sandusky issue, and that was the legitimate reason for me to hate the move. Not because I didn’t like Schiano as a coach, but because we can’t afford to rope in somebody with that awful stigma around him. If other coaches and recruits can’t figure that out then I don’t want them here anyways. Look at our job objectively. It’s probably about the 5th best job in the SEC and a top 10-15 job nationally, and I would put our athletic facilities up against any in the country. A passionate fan base that will always show up no matter what!(LSU game Huard noted he was impressed) This is a destination job for our next guy whoever it may be, and hopefully this time he’s THE guy.
