no coach will accept the job and recruiting will be impossible now

No. We dodged a really bad coaching hire. Forget about the Penn State stuff. Just look at his record as a head coach. Losing record. Mediocre. Never won his division/conference.

We will be better off. Tons better coaches.

what ignorant uninformed Tennessee fans did yesterday not only made it impossible for Tennessee to hire a quality HC....

The way the fan base turned based on second hand hearsay!!! No coach will touch the job that will have any proven quality. TENNESSEE FANS PROVED HOW IGNORANT THEY ARE YESTERDAY AND NO COACH WANTS THAT HEADACHE OF A IGNORANT UNINFORMED CRAZY FANBASE.

And if that's not bad enough THOUSANDS of articles are going to be written about how stupid, ignorant, and inability to comprehend what they read. THAT WILL BE USED AGAINST Tennessee

SO NOW YOU IGNORANT PEOPLE HAVE NOT ONLY MADE IT WHERE NO COACH WILL TOUCH THIS PROGRAM

THERE WILL NOT BE ONE QUALITY RECRUIT TOUCH IT EITHER.

Schiano was the best hire Tennessee could get and Tennessee needed him to rebuild after 15 years of neglect....

You don't think Schiano is a good coach?????

Wait till you see what Tennessee has to get!!!

Because now due to IGNORANT EAST TENNESSEE HICKS

NO COACH OR AGENT WILL TOUCH TENNESSEE AFTER THE WAY THE IGNORANT FANS REACTED TO THIS.
We would rather go 0-12 than settle for that Busta! You are the most ignorant poster that I've ever encountered on any message board. Please follow your savior Greg to the fanbase of whatever team he is an assistant coach for in the future. He's never been a good coach, role model or human being at any stop he's made. On behalf of the entire Volunteer nation please vols1707 GTFO!!!

disband the program- it is only causing people to fight and be unhappy. There is no law that states we have to field a football team. You really think losing a coach with a 500 % record at Rutgers and .344 in the NFL , who has baggage, is that much of a tragedy?

All points well taken. You do realize Alabama went through this and then had Mike Shula and then Nick Saban correct?

From 1996-2006 they went through 7 coaches!

:thud:

Drama much OP? We weren’t supposed to get mediocrity this time. It was supposed to be different.

JGs dad said “inmates running the asylum”. That’s a good analogy because “inmates” riot when conditions get so terrible that they realize inaction allows the current climate to continue and those “inmates” reach a breaking point.

Us fans were tired of being walked on. I believe this was much more about being served a plate of horse crap when we thought we made it clear we were through eatIng that s$@t! The Penn St stuff allowed the protest to be legitimate but make no mistake, this fan base is tired of passing on a bunch of qualified, desirable coaches for our AD to reach way down the list to satisfy the “few” elite and piss on the masses.

I’m proud we were finally heard. Thank you to those who physically participated!

Vols 1707 I am pretty sure is related to JC on some level. This user has been on the schiano train since before it was about to go down. Whether it's JC himself or appointed by the AD to gauge interest I will never know...

Or this user is a crazy ass and we should all be very afraid. Decide for yourselves.

I believe the source would be Joseph Goebbels, funny how a propaganda man is used to cement your version of events!!
Let's look at some facts, he knew or should have known, it was common knowledge around the AD (as per any report you want to read) even the janitor knew (caught some pervert nude in the shower with a young boy). This and this alone makes him an enabler in my view. But if he is telling the Truth, and we are to believe he just didn't have a clue, not even a hint, as to what was going on in the program-this and this alone should be reason enough for us not to want an oblivious nit-wit!
Knew or should have known-not propaganda-common sense. Another piece of common sense: Those that want a potential child molester to be in charge of anything are sick, low life, pieces of trash themselves. Birds of a feather do stick together.:hi:

you have completely missed the point. I never state a version of events only calling out someone who thinks dissenting opinions should be banned. Everyone is calling for opinions who they disagree with to be blocked. Last time I checked free speech was still protected.

I have bee consistent I did not think he was the right hire but I seriously disapprove of character assassination without proof. None of us were there and I am not going to assume the worst based on hearsay.

I did not want him as the coach because it wasn't the splash hire we needed. It is not what happened but how it happened I have problems with. Fo the ends justify the means?

We likely could have achieved the same result without drawing lines no one else, professional investigators mind you, drew. Typical SJW antics.

Lastly I will assume your last sentence was geared toward Schiano and not me. If that is incorrect please clarify, exactly, what you mean.

How could you hire a coach and at his 1st presser the 1st 10 questions would be about him witnessing child molestation and doing nothing about it. I can't believe you would put your university through that.

I work with a ton of auburn and bama fans, they ALL said, if this was happening at their university they would burn it to the ground.

No fan of ut is at fault here . whether the man is guilty or not, you don't touch him with a ten foot pole.

The hiring of kiffin, Dooley, butch and now this has every ut fan pissed.

First off, my last line was not geared toward you, if it had been, I would have been clear.
After American troops invaded Nazi Germany, they discovered the death camps, the local people claimed they knew nothing about what was happening within walking distance of their homes/fields etc. Our General Staff didn't buy it, in fact made the locals bathe and feed the prisoners (many/most were Jewish). Why did this happen you ask? Because common sense told our leaders the claim of "I didn't know" was BS!!!!! When you have as many boys being molested as was happening in Penn, and it being somewhat common knowledge in and around the A-Dept., it stifles the mind to actually believe this guy (one of the staff-an inside guy) knew nothing, he is an "I didn't know" type. I've stated before, if he didn't know, he is so imperceptive as to his surroundings that he lacks what it takes to be a good coach anywhere, especially here. If he did know and said nothing......that speaks for itself. Pick one, or pick both, they are show stoppers. It's funny, the defenders of this guy, claim he knew nothing. But do not want to discuss that his mind must be numb when it comes to his daily-work environment-in short he should have known.
Hope this helps.:hi:

Thanks for clarification and to be clear myself I am not saying he did, did not, should or should not have known. The point here is that anyone stating a fellow poster should be banned for a different point of view is against everything I and many others fought for.

The irony of the quote doesn't escape me although I would say it is as applicable to my point as to yours. Admittedly, not the smartest quote choice given the situation but trying to make a point that mass parroting of a narrative does not make it true.

yeah, i think that's certainly a feather in his cap.

i think short term wise, there's two guys you could bring in that would have the biggest impact on the short term success...meaning, the cupboard doesn't go empty this cycle...and that's Kiffin and Miles.

i think kiffin might actually be a better long term solution in and of itself, while Miles might provide a better foundation for the next guy in 3-5 years, depending on how long he wanted to be here.

i think both bring personalities and identities to the program, and regardless of what you might think of either guy, that's something our program needs.

Just my opinion, but I think Miles' age is a problem. He is probably good for 4 to 6 years then we go back through this process again. There may be better coaches available in 4 to 6 years, but no one knows the future.

Another positive with Kiffin, besides recruiting, is his age. He could potentially stay many, many years as long as he and the university are happy. The absolute best thing I like about Kiffin is the insight he received [on offense and defense] with the time he spent conferring with Smart and Pruitt probably the two best defensive coordinators in college football.

yep. and that, also, was one of my issues with him as a candidate before all this. but if you think about it, barring a good long term solution being presented right now, what if miles buys you 5 years until tee martin is ready? or who knows who might be available, willing, depending on where we are at the time.

my reason for putting him on the list now is simply that it gives you an option on the future, while also preserving at least some of the present.

current circumstance being what it is, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a guy like miles, with his reuptation, his personality, his resume and pedigree be the face of the program near term. 2 days ago.......i was a firm "no" on miles.

First of all he was far from a quality coach, his record speaks for itself, 68-67. He would have been no better than what we have had the last 10 years. And yes we can get a much better coach than him, Les Miles for one, compare his record to Shciano.

That makes sense.

I guess I am just on the Lane-Train and can see so many reasons why to hire him. As long as SchiaNO was not hired I guess I can live with whomever is hired. Personally, I do not want Dana Holgorsen or Tee. Holgorsen publicly begged repeatedly for the Miami job and Tee currently just does not have enough experience.

Have to agree with this 100%, and as if this Schiano thing wasn't bad enough, Davenport and Currie trolling (disrespecting) the loyal UT fan base by fanning the flames of Gruden rumors could be the last straw for many of us. My confidence in UT totally screwing this up was rightfully placed. :good!:

Even a 63 year old senior citizen in David Cutcliffe doesnt want our job per ESPN Cut told the Vols no Monday he plans to retire in Durham. Oh wow. We have really freaked this up as fans and admin everybody is to blame the admin for not seeing the temp of its fanbase and the fans for creating a toxic environment. Before long all we can hire would be an unproven Tee Martin who beside GA southern who else wants besides us. Wow call Nebraska ask them if we can join them in the has been club we can be irrelevant together.
