Calm down, Nancy and take your jimmies out of rustle. No doubt the reaction to Schiano's involvement at Penn State (more probably the complete lack thereof) is completely unwarranted and an unfair taint to the man based on the little that I have seen.
But the reality is that the fan base reacted like it is because GS has a crappy record, was considered the worst coach in the NFL, is horribly arrogant and discliked by players - oh, and has the Penn state thing that resurfaced just last year. After all we fans have suffered, we want someone that is a CLEAR winner, not a pile of sh!t and be told to be happy with it. That was all on Currie.

People are tired of spending their hard earned money to watch Haslam and our ad screw football for another 5 years marking 20 years since we had good football. They have right to say their tired of being bent over....so you counter with well they can just leave...well you counter that with they have a right to support who they want...listen I don't think most of us are unreasonable and the fact Currie botched the hire because he let others get away or won't come now due to this because schiano was his guy once kelly came off board and maybe mullen....... fact is we were still in play for frost and Campbell. Guess what we should pay Campbell if that what it takes you can't poor mouth when this is the admins fault we have been here for 15 years at this point. This reeks of Haslam and Currie together and as much media out put has proved it....fans have a right to say enough is enough.

welcome to the bible belt. we like to complain and make fun of libs in east tn but we accuse a guy of covering up child rape with no proof. pretty much hypocrites up in here. just be honest, vol fans used a rumor to get rid of a coach they didnt want because of his win/loss history. i hope we get bobo just to shut you all up.

Even if Schiano didn't witness anything, how can you take the chance of it being true? What if evidence comes up after the fact that damns him. Then everyone would instead say, "what was UT thinking hiring this guy."
The winner writes the history books, and it's better to be safe than sorry in this instance. You can say he's been vetted by several schools, but so was every other coach that ever got in trouble for doing something wrong (Bruce Pearl, Donnie Tyndall, Butch Davis, Rick Patino, etc.).

Honestly generally fans were not the issue on why this blew up so bad. You had 73 politicians wearing UT AD out. While I would like the think the fans made UT back out. It was much higher than just general fans. This was leaked by a top brass official because he felt it was a sh*t hire. If you think us general fans run this UNI think again. Money runs it. The money that was backing this hire needs to find another UNI as far as I am concerned. Look at what the Browns have done since he has taken over. Still the same maybe slightly worse honestly.

Tennessee fans yesterday prevented Tennessee from hiring a mid-quality coach with baggage.
The fan base did not "turn" on a coach because they never supported him in the first place. The fan base proved how passionate they are and most likely turned away coaches that could not handle that.
I've seen articles on both sides and I have yet to count thousands against Tennessee.
We will get a quality coach.
We will continue to get quality recruits.
Much of this will blow over with time so there's no need to completely panic or throw out things like NEVER in relation to Tennessee football.
Calm down and realize that life will go on and so will Tennessee football.

Kiffin was a joke .... a joke on UTK, but still a joke. Dooley, as a head coach, was almost a wonderful lawyer (all of the good lawyers are dead). Jones ... was UT's football version of Fake News. His interviews all sounded EXACTLY the same. It was all a facade .... simply not real and this year's record proves it.
Funny thing is though, all three of those posers could have been cut from the same cloth. The Vol's need something different but they want the same old same old. All of the names being bantered around are virtually heaped with the same lack of experience and maturity.
Take a look at Coach Mark McHale. THAT'S the type of head football coach the Vols need next year.

We'll be fine. I've never been so proud of a fan base than I was yesterday. Hopefully, and this won't be the case, we'll sever ties with Sexton over this. Once Jimmy finishes bending us over, he'll be right there, ready to trot another "fine" coach from his stable out to us.
And if you don't believe he is culpable in this matter, go and read the court records, shocking. Don't rely on reactionary headlines from people with an agenda. Read the transcript...at the least he is guilty of criminal negligence. And watch what happens going forward. They will initiate an investigation on the OSU side, and he'll be finished there. Students are already protesting up there, as they feel like all of this was hidden and swept under the rug...and it was.

Ill pass along what they did say on XM this morning. First, they belittled Currie for thinking Schiano was a good hire, both as coach and fit. Then, they slammed UT fans for slander against Schiano (since not one person listening knows what he did or didnt know) and shame on you for acting like you do. Basically was saying Judge Not...
Now, on the new coach. They did say who would want to come now? Where does Tn go from here? Will Currie even be allowed to pick? All their words.
My thoughts. Currie did NOT make this hire. Haslam wanted to hire Schiano for Browns HC in 2014 and he is the one who pushed for Schiano. Lets face facts, ADs at any school listen to the biggest donors. I can tell you for a fact that UGAs AD wanted Mullen, boosters told him to get out of the way, and they hired Smart.
THAT needs to happen here, the boosters need to get together and go after the biggest coach they can. Yes, they say no one wants to come now. The right amount of money will change anyones mind. But, if the boosters do that, the Haslams cant have the majority vote, look who they hired yesterday.

OP is nuts! Settle down and recognize that we shouldn't settle for Haslam's pick and our inept ADs willingness to bow down to him. I don't disagree that the mans name was drug through the mud concerning something he has denied knowledge of under oath, but people deny things under oath all the time in order to save their own necks. Maybe he did know maybe he didn't, but the tie to the scandal is enough for us hillbilly, uneducated hicks to know that a program in a downward dive didn't need any other layers of trouble to sort through.

This is exactly what's wrong with UT the fans are ruthless the media are relentless and the admin are weak. No way should the fan base control when a coach is fired or who is hired.
Quality coaches will not come here now. This fan base is a joke and the worst in the country if you don't think Schiano wouldnt have been a great coach here you don't know anything about football. He may have had a .500 record but most of that was at Rutgers one of the worst programs in CFB history and he lead them to multiple bowls. Congratulations Vol fans you have torpedoed the program for the next 10 years.
