No christmas at ut

It is so sad how American christians have taken a back seat publicly and thus America has evolved from a Christ honoring, Bible loving nation into the cesspool of "freedom" we have today. Prior to this past century's Supreme Court misinterpretations here are a few tidbits of the history of American schools and their christianity:

While I think Christians should have an equal voice in society and government, and salute your fortitude wading into the fray, collating freedom and cesspool is really unfortunate wording you should reconsider, sarcasm aside.

Even religious people have to admit, not being forced into the doors of the Anglican Church but having any - or no - church to choose from, a good thing. Manifest Destiny psychologically enabled us to do a lot of evil to native people here and abroad. Not to single out conservatives; it was fundamental to the progressive movement, too, and multiple presidents during the era subscribed to it. It's still with us and the source of our imperialism and wars of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Warts and all, I vote for today, even as we revert in some respects, into yesterday.

True. I like the TOPs of the forum who dont *****foot around their craziness unlike most of the clowns who agree with them.

Totally agree. You can at least have some modicum of respect for distasteful ideas and distasteful people if they're at least honest and open about what they really are.

The rest of them are either completely ignorant as to what they are all about or are simply liars.

I only wish that everybody in this forum could taste the freedom of walking with Christ. Many of our country's founders loved Him and His teachings. As you can see in my post above, most colleges were founded by christians. Our public education taught christianity and the Bible.

Have you ever asked yourself why did some of the brightest men who ever lived also love christianity?

Our founders wanted you and I to taste true freedom.

Only one Person can give it to you.

A substantial amount of the men who made our country followed the strict, rigid public virtue of early Roman paganism.

Perhaps we should have a public education system teach everyone Roman Republic paganism, since those are the values (the religious components notwithstanding) that most directly founded this nation, along with an 18th Century liberal revamping of said values.

Your ramblings are inconsistent with the fact that the founders emphasized freedom of religion. Thank God they recognized the folly of America's European forerunners.

I'm sorry to be the one to break the news to you. But the founders meant freedom to pick your denomination or freedom to stay home and be an atheist. The folly they wanted to avoid in Europe was picking one denomination as the State sponsored group over any other denomination.

In other words, THEY LOVED CHRISTIANITY with almost no exceptions. But they did not want to pick the Lutherans or Presbyterians etc as the christian group.

This is not to be confused with the modern myth that the founders didn't love christianity.

Heck the USA was a state sponsor of christianity. Christian verses and prayers dominated all Federal buildings. All Federal gatherings opened with prayers to the CHRISTIAN GOD!!!!!!!!!1

But only by their free will, a central tenet of Jesus but forsaken by much of Christendom for too long. It is possible to acknowledge the good works of people of faith without sanitizing the awfulness of that history; many 'Christians' were either owners or prominent members of the slave trade. They were also, perhaps inarguably, the catalyst for the abolition movement. Religion, being human nature, is rife with contradictions.

He did refer to *early* Rome, by Christian standards a pagan society with many gods, and many founders observed aspects of later Roman republicanism as worthy of incorporating. Others, like Jefferson, were less taken but did like the nifty architecture, a good deal incorporated into the nation's capitol.

I would not ban any type of club that is religious on campus, but I would prohibit faculty members from having Christmas parties, of which not everyone in the faculty adheres to that particular religion. Clubs can be chosen by students, whereas Christmas parties are often required to a certain sense, and thus should not be affiliated by religion. Another thing lost in translation here is the fact that these statements were simply suggestions from that department, not mandatory. The same thing can be said about their memo concerning gender neutral pronouns that was released in Sept---it was issued so some could make the campus as inclusive as possible, not as a passed down decree from Cheek.

Fun fact: many of the top research institutions along UTK are using gender nouns:

Growing number of universities embrace gender-neutral pronouns ‘ze,’ ‘hirs’ and ‘theirs’ - The College Fix

In addition, America often tries to compare it's educational system to the Scandinavian countries, particularly Sweden:

Sweden officially introduces gender-neutral pronoun – Women in the World in Association with The New York Times – WITW

Many companies across the United States are beginning to deal with the very real issue that many do not associate with a particular gender, whether you (or they) like it or not. I am particularly proud that my university in the south is taking a lead with these progressive initiatives.

And no, I did not like whatever Uncle Tom comment you are referring to.

These universities are preaching some really stupid **** with the gender neutral pronoun crap..... I'm sure you support their efforts.

Well said. I don't know christians who are perfect. Once a man becomes a christian, God purifies him for the rest of his life. Many of us start out pretty ugly lol. Many don't change fast either. But the abiding presence of the Creator and His humility in dwelling both in us and with us is so awesome. The Bible says His ways are perfect not mine lol.

Pagans invented democracy. Christianity, Protestantism in particular, gave these pagan ideals a more liberal emphasis upon the individual and his or her rights, but make no mistake: democracy is pagan.

Our nation's founders essentially crafted this country as a modern-day Rome.

Don't rewrite history to suit your own world perspective and agenda.

The founders could have very easily voted to put "freedom of Christian denomination" or "freedom of religion as long it is Christianity" into the First Amendment.

They didn't.

I'm still trying to figure out why declarative statements about a group of men's "love of christianity" is being tossed about as if those words are not subjective. Bizarre.

How the hell would this guy know what the founding fathers 'loved' or to what degree?
