What about Mike Leach, he made Texas Tech a winner and is doing the same at Washington State. If he could recruit at those schools, he shouldn't have a problem at Tennessee. He is obviously all in on offense and not so much defense but I think he would be a coach to bring the program back to the top.
No Chip Kelly or Bobby Petrino... PLEASE!!
Those guys are a Lane Kiffin style fiasco waiting to happen.
The very best thing to do is bring Coach Cut home from Duke for a couple of seasons to stabilize things, then let him pick his successor.
This will re-establish the Tennessee "brand' of football... re-establish the style of play that made the Big Orange championship contenders, in the first place. (The same style that Saban, Harbaugh, Kirby Smart, etc... employ to this day.)
That is... a physical, pro-style offense with a vertical, play-action passing game and a punishing defense.
After a couple of seasons of Coach Cut the caretaker... we will know if Tee Martin is a legit coach or if Peyton Manning has a desire to do it.
The "Nattering Nay-Bobs of Negativism" are all thinking "oh crap, 5 yards and a cloud of dust, all over again?" lol.
Yeah. That sure beats a loss of 4, and a cloud of orange mouthpieces splattering the ground. lol.
Regardless of all the "trickeration' and innovation fans become enamored with... football is a physical sport. The consistent, championship caliber programs are coached by individuals who still understand that.
Coach Cut is the best man to restore that to Tennessee.
Ask Eric Ainge what a difference Coach Cut can make.
NO we want Chip Kelly
for 18 years he coached at only 2 schools, he installed his O at both and it was, and still is a huge success. His teams averaged 45+ppg, while giving up 21ppg. His teams finished the season ranked 11th, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, going to 2 rose bowls, on NC game, and one fiesta bowl, twice in 4 years he was national coach of the year.
His type of offense is used in the SEC right now, in fact Tennessee used a version of it last year to score more ppg than we had in how many? Right now 7 of the top 10 teams in the country use a form of that offense. Clemson beat Bama using that offense, and 5 of the 6 teams in the playoff NC games have used a form of that offense.
Everyone who actually knows, knows there is no baggage or situation with hiring Chip. Heck even the NCAA themselves said Chip did not do anything. So why on earth would we want coach Cut? Especially there is a coach like Chip not even coaching right now. I doubt you could find any coach with Chip's credentials that would be more of a real possibility for Tennessee.
Hey Leach don't you have a game to get ready for?
Also didn't you ask this same question yesterday?
and I'll give you the same answer I gave yesterday.
Leach is a builder, and can coach teams to an 8 or 9 win season most of the time......once he has built the program.
Leach has never shown that he can do anything more. Leach has had 1 season of better than 9 wins in his 16 year head coaching career.........he is also .605 for his career. Butch Jones has shown he can build something, but he has also shown he cannot coach a team he has built to more than 8 or 9 wins. Not saying Butch is better or even as good as Leach, because I think most people (including my self) think Leach is much better. But nothing in his entire career shows that Leach can do what Tennessee and the fans of Tennessee want.
Don't let one half of a season fool you Leach is .605 for his career for a reason.
Not being a smart elic but is that the same Oregon team that lost to Boise State two years in a row????????
