I think with all the credit (and cash) that Barnes rightfully received as a result of the 17-18 and 18-19 seasons, he does deserve some criticism for the 17 and 18 recruiting classes.

I'd be willing to bet he will prove you wrong. I also feel more 5 stars are not one and down players than are. Patience with Master James is in order for his Frosh year.

It’s not bad luck. It’s poor roster construction. They got one play in a two year window that’s currently on the roster. One. No excuse for that.

I hope to.......you do mean like only 21 coaches in the history of college basketball have won more games right......like we should get used to winning........right?

Maybe not a great season this year......but I’m sure those other 21 guys had some down years.

But your saying Tennessee won’t be down for long......right?

Only the 22nd winningest men’s basketball coach of all time......and somehow he is at Tennessee.

Sure it may suck right now......but much of that was out of his control.....and history says it will get much better, and soon (he’s only had 3 losing seasons in his career).

I think most thought we would take our lumps this season after two left for the NBA and another was ruled ineligible to play. Then we won some games early and we thought maybe not then now yes were not that good gonna be a rough season. The expectations for some players have been far less than what was expected. We had to get scoring from James and Bowden and yesterday we get 3 of 19 so when we get that from those two were not beating many decent teams. Without Turner Fulkerson and Pons only get 7 shots at the basket which is a huge minus. So what can be done to get Bowden and James to be efficient scorers and many more shots for Fulkerson and Pons will determine what our final record is. Really disappointed in the play of James such a highly rated player you expected a lot more. Bowden is a senior and seems he has to have enablers like Williams and Schofield to be able to score. Teams just pressure him and tell the others to shoot it. Maybe Johnson can help if Barnes gives him the minutes. This is a team that could go either way Bowden and James could finally start getting it done or they could continue what they are doing now. Vescovi could possibly be a huge difference maker with his passing ability. Right now team is in real trouble needs to find a lot of offensive solutions fast.

I think we have to accept that we've encountered our own perfect storm. Was surprised when both Grant and Bone left early. Then Turner can't play. With the graduation of the seniors that's 5 of your top 6 players gone. We were building a good front line but Burns and Walker leave for whatever reason. I don't think Kent was really going to be a factor or else he would have already seen the court more, maybe by his senior year you're getting 7 points, 5 rebounds a game out of him and that wouldn't have solved our problems. We now find ourselves in a complete rebuild, like it or not.

I have to admit that I was all for the Barnes hire and felt he did a good development job with the guys on the team the last two years but that UCLA thing really hacked me off. I don't think I will ever trust him again. Felt like Calapari without the championships and the recruiting. But he's our coach now until he thinks he's got a better offer so let's see what happens when the 2020 recruiting class gets on campus.

Vescovi just arrived on campus this weekend. How long does it take for him to learn the offense? Not so sure he’ll be much of a factor until maybe February. However, after watching the garbage we saw yesterday if he can dribble the ball and hit a FT, he should be able to contribute.

Before the season started many figured we had to get 12-14 ppg from JJJ to be successful. We're getting half that and now lost our top scorer and assist leader to boot. Stars just not aligned in our favor this year.

Even if SV comes in and picks up and compares to LT's numbers wise we still at a dis-advantage due to depth.
We could use Burns , not sure how his 10.8 ppg & 3.8 Rebounds & 56% shooting at Winthrop Big South compares to SEC.
We could use D Walker too but his 0.8 ppg & 1.1 rebound . 52% shooting at Nebraska , looks like what he was at UT & is.

Tennessee shot 35% however:
Fulk went 3 for 3 (100%)
Pons went 2 for 4 (50%)
Oliver went 2 for 4 (50%)
Pember went 1 for 2 (50%)

When the shots aren’t falling, it becomes imperative to get the ball down low. Tennessee didn’t. Some of this comes from a lack of Turner, some from a new point, some from a new starter, and some as Fulk, Pons, ect didn’t work hard enough to gain position and demand the ball.

No matter the reason for not getting it down low enough......if the outside shots aren’t falling this team must find a way to get the ball down low.....especially if they are shooting 62%.

There's a lot less learning schemes in basketball but I would guess he starts out as an off the bench guy and we have a piece of the offense that he is familiar with and gradually add to that.

Neither Burns nor Walker would help. Burns would be a total defensive liability at this level. Burns is where he needs to be.
