Maybe this is the one game of the year that UT gets no breaks at all:

1. No call on obvious pass interference
2. Poor spot then the stuffed QB sneak
3. The Bammer punter...the durn punter saved two touchdowns on returns.
4. Turnovers 3-0
5. The prayer that Bammer threw to set up their only TD.

And UT still pulls out the win. It feels good to pull this one out.

was nice to watch the guys overcome all the adversity in that game.

The no-call on PI, was actually called, then withdrew. If I could have reached thru the TV and wrung that ref's neck, I woulda.

Couldn't agree more...I was thinking the same thing to myself the whole game. With Bammer's ineptitude on offense that game shouldn't have been a nail-biter like it was. But give them credit, they made us work for it...

The title of this thread says it all. Every little thing that could have gone wrong for UT sure seemed to go that way. I was getting really upset with the officiating. I don't think that there is any way you can say that catch by Bret Smith wasn't a TD. Ultimately, that didn't matter, but it's just another example of the officiating causing problems for UT.

We cannot play like that against LSU or Arkansas. All is well from Wildcat land. These cool nights make me wonder how I made it in GA for 18 years.

It might have been an ugly win and no breaks, but it seems every time we play Fl and Al we get bad refs.

Did you hear the announcers bring up the gafney catch?

We don't need to play like that against USC, Kentucky or Vandy either.

I missed that. However, I don't think they are comparable. There wasn't a review system to challenge Gaffney's "catch". Smith bobbled, but the ball never touched the ground. When he was tackled, his belly was crossing the goal line. The ball was tucked in that region. More than half the ball was clearly crossing the plane, while in his hands. I don't see how you could look at the replay and not say touchdown.

I think the college football reviewing system is a complete joke.

I am confused about them nullifying the pass interference call? If the ball was not tipped, what is the reasoning for changing the call to not being interference? If the ref threw the flag then he saw it, how do you change your mind afterwards?

I guess I just saw things a little differently...granted, we did suck, but credit Bama's defense. If they had just a LITTLE bit of offense we'd have been playing an undefeated team tonight. Just a little more recruiting for Bama and I think they are back in business in a few years.

I just felt like the Vols were snakebit the whole game. The more things that went wrong, the more convinced I got that somehow we weren't meant to win. I was resigned to a loss when UT had to settle for the FG to make it 13-9. Even after they finally went ahead, I kept wondering what rabbits foot Alabama was going to pull out to win it in the last second. Perhaps another cow-pasture pass, a series of screwy major penalties, or even Darby breaking a long td run on third and long in the last minute.
If you remember, last year was full of this stuff, too. Only difference is today the Vols won a game they would have lost last year.

we did not play well on the offensive side, once again the defense, mr. chavis and company gave us the win, thanks you mr mayo, mvp. we have got to play better against scaro. cant keep the d out there the whole game, it is however, a sign of a good team, to play poorly, overcome adversity and pull out a win. luv those vols. cant look past anyone. my stomach just settled and will start to churn over scaro...tomorrow, tonight...cigars and beers...go vols

I agree . . . You either saw the guy hit the receiver early, or you didn't. I have no idea how they waved off that flag. The ball clearly wasn't tipped, and Meachem got a hand on it, so it was clearly catchable.

That was a horrible non-call.

What about the hit on Hefney trying to catch a punt? He's lucky he didnt get knocked out of the game. At a minimum there should have been an additional personal foul called. That was ridiculous.
