No bigger winner than Tennessee in week 1

Their LOS was very poor (OL) & overrated (DL)
I've got a nasty feeling that dabo is about to get himself into a death spiral with his insistence on leading by the rules of the past. A fan base will turn on you quickly after you've said a high bar and they've become entitled. Everyone around here should understand that.

Tennessee covers and wins, transfer QB looks better than the last two jokers

Alabama loses to a team that went 2-10 last year (and a team with multiple former Vols)

Nico looks like a worse version of Nico and continues his tradition of not scoring touchdowns in more than one half.

Not sure how week 1 could have realistically gone better than this. I guess we could have played a bit better on some third and longs and been a bit sharper on a few throws, but in general, this was as good as we could have asked for.
No "good" weekend is complete if UF wins.

One of those last two "jokers" was the ultimate team player and is representing the Vols and Coach Heupel well in the NFL.
Totally agree and would give you more likes if possible. Joe Milton stuck with the team and waited for his turn. He could have bailed but he didn't. I wish nothing but the best for him!

It will be a while before we can look back and say who the "biggest winner" was in Week 1. Gotta think the early nod goes to FSU, but time will tell.

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch...

Shoutout to DeShaun Foster, UCLA Head Football Coach. On behalf of legions of Tennessee football fans, please accept our sincere appreciation for offering Nico a new home, and gifting us Joey Aguilar in return. You got the shiny Corvette with an engine stutter, and we got the 3rd-owner Dodge Charger that turned out to have a Hellcat engine under the hood.

As was said inside that tepee in "Dances with Wolves"...good trade.

;)

UT is definitely up there as one of the biggest winners for multiple reasons.
- Nico departure
- Scrambling to find a QB replacement at the last minute with few quality options available.
- Being a tad bit snubbed in the polls.
- False narratives by national media members lying about the Nico situation.
- Boo Carter antics.
All things considered, UT came out smelling like a rose after comfortably taking care of business against Syracuse and UCLA looking like straight up trash.

Not sure how good Clemson is. Klubnik has never impressed me. LSU's win may be nothing or it could be impressive. Too much is put on preseason rankings. Clemson may not be in the top 25 at seasons end. Syracuse might run them off the field.
I think Syracuse and Clemson don't play regular season could meet in ACC Championship game

I had a crazy thought. Since Joey opens up Heup’s playbook could he end up with Hooker type numbers? The type of numbers that put Hooker strongly in the Heisman running? How crazy would be after all we went through at QB for the replacement guy to be in NYC.

And I’m not sure I ever truly understood how lame Clemson’s entrance is. So the fully dressed Clemson players file out of their stadium dressing room and try to squeeze into four tour busses that transport them a couple of blocks to the other side of the stadium. They disembark and touch a rock before gingerly walking down a steep tarp-covered hill to the playing surface. So the rock is magical or from the moon I wondered? Nope, some dude gave it to their football coach who used it as a door stop for 6 years before telling someone to throw it away. Dude put it on a pedestal instead.

Probably still better than South Carolina’s weird homage to Kubrick.
Hey that dude was my father's uncle Samuel Columbus Jones. Dont be dissing my great uncle!:)

He will end up at Bama.

Agreed. Milton is a VFL. He was a GREAT teammate. Yes, he didn’t put up the big numbers - but what a great guy.

Don’t think the OP really meant to jab at Milton though. Probably just emphasizing that perhaps Aguilar will allow us to get back to the high powered offense we want.

I saw a game analysis on lsu/clemson and they showed an average qb release time barely over 2 seconds. They didn’t think they could block clemson’s dl so they schemed quick passing. I’m not sure clemsons dl is overrated. Maybe their coaching should have adapted better to lsu’s plan.
