This is just my opinion and want to hear y'alls. First if we do keep him, which I doubt but if so how great can our recruiting class be? You know every coach in America will use the It will be his last year arguement. We would be lucky to keep alot of the guys we have, muchless add more. We will have guys who love UT and will come for that reason but not all of them. This was supposed to be our year with having alot of JR's, improved leadership and depth. Schedule was supposed to set up in our favor. Next year Dooley, with his SEC record and record against ranked opponents we will be lucky to win 5-6 games. We play at Oregon,at Ala and at UF so we have to assume thats 3 losses. Play SC and GA at home but will be ranked so with his history and 0-12 against our big 4 opponents that is 5 loses. Play at Mizzou which could be a loss. So we should win our other 3 out of conf plus Vandy and UK so thats possibly 5-6. Luckily we get AU next year at home. That should be a win but havent beaten AU in forever. But at best it looks 6-6 or 7-5 under DD. So then they fire him next year and waste a potential really good recruiting class, depending on the new coach and pushing back a year of a new coach getting his system in place and setting up recruiting ties. Do you guys agree or am I just wanting him gone that bad? Go Vols!

I agree, the ONLY scenario where I think keeping Dooley could yield a positive expectation would be in the unlikely event no one would consider taking his job that we consider a major upgrade this year but we have serious reason to expect it would be different after next year (LOL)

With that said, there is no reasonable argument to justify this sort of line of thought. People say "the cupboard is bare" if everyone goes to the draft that are guaranteed 2nd round or higher. Then people say he is a good recruiter. How in the world can both those statements be true?

Lol I definitely agree with you. We are in a much better situation now with the depth chart and no pending sanctions. I would hope and think with the money that is being thrown around out there we could definitely find an upgrade and be able to get a proven HC. Cant handle another year like the last 3. I will always pull for and watch the entire game from start to end and make trips up and come to the games. But it has been hard to watch, especially this year when we had such high expectations.

If we don't have a perceived home run hire, then Dooley should get another year which would prove one way or the other if he's got it.

Just my opinion but if he couldnt do it this year, then with next years schedule and no telling who goes pro then I can't see next year not being worse.

The next year someone will say, just one more year, then another. There will always those that will settle for being the SEC doormat that accomplished feats of mediocrity that Kentucky has not ever accomplished. We are square in the bracket with Vandy with this staff and their paradigm.

I don't have inside sources, but I would say that Dooley and I have roughly the same chance of coaching Tennessee next year.

Bingo, a homerun hire at TN is going to take a lot of luck. We could be waiting 5 more years for a homerun hire.

I would do it but there is no doubt I would have us in trouble with the NCAA, we would make AU player payroll look like chump change. People think its bad that Petrino had one chick on a Harley. I would need a flat bed truck to haul all the ladies. wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle!

No way. One that kills recruiting for another year. This year's class is already 3/4's full and it is really bad and they dont seem to be in good shape with really anyone defensively where they need the most help. Secondly, the schedule is much tougher next year. Third, the roster wont be nearly as good next year with the probable early NFL guys. I think just about any hire at this point would be an upgrade. Smart wouldn't be my top choice but I'd gladly give him a chance if the other alternative was keeping Dooley.
