Lady vols win it convincingly. 73-53.
Game summary:
Vandy got out to an early lead, but TN quickly turned it around and went on a scoring streak getting the lead out to ten points early. The Lady Commodores, searching for their first win at the Summit got it within 5 at one point, but the Lady Vols slammed the door shut thanks to outstanding offensive shooting by Bobbitt, Spencer and, of course, Parker who had 21 on the day combined with 14 rebounds.
It was nice to see Spencer come out of her shooting slump. Well played game by the ladies.

Twas a great game, indeed! Very proud of how well the girls played today. It feels great to go undefeated in the SEC this year. Time to get ready to go kick some arses, and take names in the SEC tourney!

GO VOLS!!!!!

Congrats Lady Vols on an undefeated season of SEC play. A great accomplishment and should give us momentum going into Duluth this weekend.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that it is absurd that the court is named after Pat Head while all that Ray Mears has is a media room named after him. If it weren't for Ray Mears, there would be no Thomson Boling Arena and there would be no court for the name of Pat Head's husband, who she is no longer with, to be put on.

Why the obsession with Pat's marriage??? Seriously, I see that posted like 3 times a week.

Further, Pat has brought in 6 NCAA Titles...I think she deserves something.

Not really an obsession with Pat's marriage so much as it is the fact that her husbands name is now on the court. As for your other point, I agree that she deserves something, but it is ridiculous that the one person that is the reason for TBA has nothing more than an interview room named after him. If the court is named after anyone it should be Mr. Mears.

Thank you for your insight, I may have not made it through the day without those intelligent comments. I would attempt to make a response that would be on your level, but I finished name calling in elementary school. My comments have nothing to do with me getting a life or it being my problem. What it does have to do with is me wanting to know if Lady Vols fans have the same opinion about this that I do. I figured since this was a LV thread, then I would find some LV fans in here. Once again, thank you for your in-depth conversation.

Is it just me, ...

Yup, pretty much!:)

Doesn't seem to be bothering Bruce and his crew. Personally, I like the way the two coaches/programs not only co-exist, but seem to share a good rapport. And I'm also a big fan of Mears and what he did for Tennessee basketball. We're all in BIG ORANGE COUNTRY together! :dance2:

It doesn't bother me that the court is named after Pat. What bothers me is that Ray Mears has only received a media room named after him. I apologize if I have pissed anyone off, that wasn't my intentions at all. I just wanted to see what fans of the Lady Vols thoughts were on the subject.

Mears helped build Tennessee Basketball tradition to the point that a major Arena like Thompson-Boling was possible, but he did not coach a single game there. Summitt's accomplishments took place on that court, and it is very fair that it is named in her honor.
If they were to name a court after Coach Mears, they should have after he left Tennessee while the BasketVols still played at Stokely.

The Ray Mears room was a media room, but now it is a VASF room for donors in the courtside club, and it is much nicer than the current media room. He also has a banner displayed about him in TBA, so I believe that his accomplishments are well-shown in Thompson-Boling Arena without a court or arena named for him.

Pat deserves anything good that happens. They could not have picked a better person to name the court after.

I may be alone, but I don't like seeing "summit" on the court when the men are playing. It bugs me.

Me too, but not because it is a woman's name on the court. I hate b-ball courts with alot of stuff on them. I hate the gigantic TENNESSEE across the court. I wish they would go back to the orange logo of the state of Tennessee and Tennessee at one base line and Volunteers at the other. I like simplicity.

I dont think our court is cluttered to much. I do not like the big logos like you said. Floridas take up the entire court it seems.

Lady Vols are AWESOME in the SEC!
