As a coach it's ok to show your displeasure with not making the tournament, but you get your team motivated to play. Mercer's coach (who had a good argument to be in the tourney) took Gonzo behind the coaching woodshed tonight. His guys were motivated and ready to play...

What was Mercer's argument to be in the tournament?

And why wouldn't Mercer be more motivated than UT? They didn't get snubbed by the NCAA. Think people!

No you are. The point is nobody on this team cared about the NIT after getting snubbed by the NCAA. Hard game to get up for. Surely most of you had an idea this might happen.

Was this your excuse for either of the Bama or Georgia games we lost?

It happens every time we end up in the NIT.

Is it common for higher seeded teams to fall early in the nit? since the higher seeds are more likely to not give a damn, I see this being a plausable scenario. Not using that as an excuse though.

You either have pride in yourself and your program or you don't. I hope Cuonzo is the answer but he set the tone for this fiasco by saying he would play everyone.

He led the team to the NIT, he should have enough pride to get his team ready to represent The University of Tennessee better than this.

Cuonzo is pathetic. He will be back for sure, but it doesn't change the fact that he is mediocre. He lacks the fire that the great coaches have. He has no excuses not to get the job done next year.

Like I said earlier pathetic. I want to win. Period. Especially when you have more talent on the floor. I know Martin gets next year but the pressure is on.
