Not to completely hijack, but has anybody had experience with some midsize suv's?

Nissan pathfinder
Xterra
Toyota 4runner
Ford escape
Etc.

Something that gets decent milage but has room for people and stuff. Advice?

I briefly had a Mazda CX-7 and it was a good driving vehicle. Pretty well equipped for the price (was the upper model). Probably a 2008 or 2009

Congrats! Love that brand new car smell

Back in Jan of 1990 I bought a new 1989 Nissan Hardbody for $5,000 cash, drove that truck for 15 years and over 250,000 miles before getting t-boned on drivers side and totaling vehicle. I used it for a work truck and replaced 2 alternators, 2 clutches (it always had over a 1,000 lbs in it at all times, 2 headlights and brakes 4 times. The insurance company settled with me for $3500 to replace the truck which was outstanding. That truck ran like a top but the Tacos hold their value better overall and if I was in the market for a truck I would consider it.

Thanks guys. It's my first major purchase as I'm just graduating UT in May and moving down to Dallas for a job. Hard work does pay off

those are all a little different. I would put the Pathy and 4runner in a different class than the X/Escape/Rav4/etc. I have an Xterra and will drive it until it dies. I've had very few issues with it and those were taken care of under warranty. Fits everything I need in it (including a car seat and dog)

Good looking truck. Not a fan of the black paint though. I currently have a black car, and the downsides are immense.

Looks great for a day and half after washing it though.

I have a white Frontier. I heard the black one is faster

I've got a 2011 Frontier, crew cab 4wd. Haven't had any problems yet. Getting around 17mpgs on average for some around town, some 4 lane roads for traveling. Got 19.2 on my last interstate trip. I wanted a Tacoma. But I got my Frontier for about 7 grand less than the Taco. Yota's may hold value, but not 7 grand difference. Like any dealership, they are lookin to take your car at or below trade and hit ya no lower than retail. All the while with a smile on their face. I offer a price, if ya don't like it bye.

I had an Xterra. Wasn't great on gas mileage. It was an ok vehicle. We have a Toyota Sequoia now and gets about the same on gas surprisingly

Thanks guys. :hi:

I understand gas mileage won't be great since it's not a small car, but I would like it to be better than a big SUV like a Yukon.

I'm not in the market yet (still young, don't have job, etc.), so I have time, but I'm looking for something with storage, can fit some people, carry things (such as a canoe or something should I get one), and has ok gas mileage, reliable, etc.

One thing I don't like is how all the midsize/crossovers now look like cars, not like an suv. Not the end of the world, but I don't like that look nearly as much.

Just trying to get early feedback on potentials.

Just bought a 2010 Nissan frontier. Really like it so far. Gotta get the cd player fixed other than that a good looking truck.

I'm loving mine so far too. Only negative has been the gas mileage but that is to be expected with a truck. Just a rough transition from a car.

check to see which CAI then guys are running on their frontys. I installed a Volant on my Xterra and it helped the gas mileage a bit (2-3mpg). Others did the same with a K&N. It's a very easy upgrade to do
