wrong. you may not like them, but to say they are overrated is just ridiculous.

First two albums were great.

Third was pretty good.

After that, it was kinda like crap followed by more crap.

not really. they evolved into something a little different. that is what most bands do as they get older. their other albums are far from crap.

I guess I just didn't evolve with them then.

No it's not. People talk about them like its still 1994 but there best music is well behind them.

i agree that their early music was better, but they have nowhere near the fanfare of 91-94 now. not sure who said "people" are...

Easily the least talented band to come out of the "grunge" era. They get WAY too much credit, Kurt was a novice singer/guitarists/songwriter.

The best thing to come out of Nirvana was Dave Grohl.

Nirvana was a great band IMO. Kurt Cobain was not the most talented guitarist, but he wrote great songs and had an awesome voice. Nirvana pretty much put the nail in the coffin of 80s hair metal, and any band that does that is okay in my book. I don't think Nirvana has aged as well as some other bands, but at that time and place, Nirvana was some of the best music round. Not as good as Alice in Chains, but good nonetheless and very influential. You wonna talk about overrated- talk about Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam is hands down the best band to exist over the last 20 years.

I dare you to name another band that has accomplished what they have.

Anybody who thinks Buckethead is "30 years ahead of everyone else" obviously is a fool when it comes to music.

I don't think there would have been an Alice in Chains or Soundgarden without Nirvana first. That is enough to cement their reputation with me.

Their last two albums are tremendous. They have continually released good to great music over the life of their entire career, while other bands just disappear into oblivion, they stand tall.

You are sorely mistaken. Soundgarden was well on it's way to being a great band, so was Alice In Chains.

Nirvana or not, tiose bands were too good to be denied.

Cobain killing himself had much to do with their legacy, more so than their music. Ever hear him live? Sounds like a cat being strangled. I say all this and I like them, they were an ok band.

I don't think they would have had the same sound. Nirvana influenced everyone in music at that time, especially bands from Seattle, who heard them before they became big. They really created that grunge sound, although Soundgarden and AIC were much better IMO.

On a sidenote, that theory that Courtney Love killed him because she didn't want to lose custody of their child in a divorce if he was able to clean up is interesting.

No mtater what you think, both bands were established before Nirvana became Nirvana.

And neihter of those bands have a sound that is even remotely close to Nirvana.

They did not create the "grunge" sound, not even close.

Real artists evolve. It's up to you whether or not you want to follow them in their new directions. I think Ten was a good album, but everything else was not so much. How can I be wrong in my personal opinion?

Id also go back through old posts to laugh at whatever you are a fan of, but honestly who gives a ____ what you think?

I would say nobody on here cares, nor should they, doesn't stop me from thinking that you are delusional.

Have you even hear anything past "Ten"?

Yet to name a band that has done what they have done the last 20 years.

I'm a fan, but was kind of disappointed in Backspacer. maybe it was the Target commercials, or maybe I wanted it to be better. getting Cameron makes their live shows even better.

kinda wish Ed would stop the solo stuff, and write a punk as fudge Pearl Jam record.

Yeah I downloaded a bunch of their stuff. Old and new. I'm not just talking about stuff that I've never listened to unlike some people...

I did like their unplugged albums. And Ten.

didn't realize until a read this thread that a person's opininon of what is overrated and not overrated could be classified as right and wrong, when there is no set right or wrong when it comes to musical taste. rathar it's just a person's opinion.

just sayin'

an opinion is I don't like how this band sounds or I really like this band's sound.

Overrated/Underrated is different. If so many bands point to PJ as a musical influence and they're still selling records and venues out at such a solid pace, you can't say "overrated". Everything about them proves they are one of, if not the biggest American band in the past 20 years.
