Well, the details are in. The Wii's coming November 19th, and it'll cost you $250 damn dollars. Surprised it's not under two bills? Don't be, it's a lot less than a lot of people are willing to pay right now. At the Nintendo event later today in New York (we'll be there) we'll catch a glimpse of the 25 game announcements preparing to be made, as well as more official launch details -- but in the mean time we know it'll ship with Wii Sports (baseball, bowling, golf, and tennis -- all very addictive), Super Mario Galaxy will not ship in 2006 (boo!), it'll have a photo streaming service, news and weather channels (most likely a part of WiiConnect24, but still a bit bizarre), and Opera for browsing the web; new titles will run you $50, while Virtual Console games will cost between $10 and $50 apiece. But really this stuff is all you really needed to know, isn't it? November 19th, $250. November 19th, $250. And yes, they're still apparently on track to meet their four million unit goal for their 2006 launch. Still, stay tuned for more deets, they're inevitable.

This system seems like a better deal than the 360 or the P3. But will it be any good?? Nintendo has always catered to the kiddies it seems.

Does anyone know if you will actually be able to download and save old NES, SNES, and N64 games to the system. This is the one thing that has me considering buying the system.

Yes, there is a little internal memory, but you're welcome to use memory cards (and I think it takes SD memory as well).

$5 for NES games, $8 for SNES, $10 for N64. I believe they said there should be 30 at launch available for download.

Sort of. A second controller is going to be $60. Component cables are roughly $40-$60. Controller shells if you need them are $20 or more (classic shell for older games, gun shell, etc.). If you don't have wireless, add more for an ethernet port add on.

Granted, it's a pretty good deal, but most people were expecting better, espeically after all they've been saying. It's basically a Gamecube with some enhancements. That isn't to say this isn't the best value by any means. It may very well be for some people.

I want to see what kind of wires they include for the remote sensor that has to be on or under your tv. I want to see how their online plans pan out (no online games at launch). There's a lot of I'm interested in seeing. Hope it ends up being fun.

Hell, this alone makes it almost worth it!!

It's all good. The system will be worth buying when the price drops to about $200 (almost the same price as a PSP now! Jeez...) and more good titles come out. Nintendo may be backing itself further into a different market, but they still know how to make a damned good game from time to time.

That's pretty much how I feel right now. A year from now might be a good time to see how it's panned out and decide then whether to buy.
