Is anyone else entertaining the idea of picking one of these up once its released early next year? I picked up a DS for my last handheld and i'm thinking about going with Nintendo again this time around. The game library so far sounds pretty impressive IMO.

I see a lot of little kids playing these. Is that why you have one duck?

I'm interested in seeing one, but doubt I'll be buying it. Recent reports have the tech inside as a lot more powerful than current DS machines but not as good as top end cellphones.

The screen is interesting. Great technology that will hopefully be taking off next year. Can't wait to see it in person.

i'm going to have to see one in person before i really consider it. my daughter has a dsi that i play a lot, way more than the psp. if it's really as good as advertised i'll probably end up picking one up eventually

I'm more intrigued honestly by the 3D effect without having to use glasses....if it's possible, that's one of those things i'd like to have built upon with these TVs if 3D television does turn out to actually stay around in the future

Pretty sure they have those TV's right now. I swear I read something about it anyway.

They have 3D tvs without glasses. But, they don't work all that well. The problem is the sweet spot for seeing the 3D effect. The 3DS is most likely going to be played in a 1 to 2 foot distance from your eyes. The machine displays 2 different images, each aimed at a different eye.

When you start making bigger tvs, you begin to lose the freedom people expect with tvs. You would be limited to a certain distance in front of the screen to see the effect as you should.

Same company making Nintendo's screen has a triple display as well. It's a screen that produces completely different images for the front, left, and right side. They have been using a very similar screen to the 3DS in gps's overseas. Driver sees gps information, passenger can be watching a movie or looking at the internet.

Just an opinion, but I think you'll be seeing this type of display more and more. Within the next 3 or 4 years, you'll have 3D cellphones and tablets. But, getting it to work with large tvs is going to be difficult.

I'll probably be suckered into getting one mainly for the Resident Evil title, which is my favorite game series. Otherwise I'm not really excited for most of the other announced games, because a lot of them are merely 3D "remakes" of existing games.

A new ds had came out just about every year it feels like. Probably has something to do with it.

Does anyone have a 3DS or 3DS XL? Just gauging some of y'all's thoughts on them. I've always been a fan of the Mario games and other Nintendo exclusive titles, and then with Super Smash Bros 3DS coming out later in the year it definitely makes owning one for $175-200 more justifiable than buying a Wii U.

Yeah I picked up one about 2 years ago, a regular 3DS; pretty much did what I posted earlier, got it for the Resident Evil game. I've had about 6 other games too since; the Castlevania game, the Zelda game, the 2 main Mario games (3D Land and New Super Mario Bros 2), and 2 Mario RPG games (the Paper Mario one and the Mario & Luigi one).

I'm not a big portable player, and I mostly stick to the Nintendo made games. But I feel I've gotten my money's worth.
