Nine programs that won a national title but never will again

It's a terrible piece clearly aimed at getting fan bases fired up. Click bait at it's finest.

I doubt if any of the other fan bases would take exception to it though. It looks to me like it was aimed specifically to get Tennessee fans fired up - and it will work.

Trolls want attention so I hate to even respond to this article but we are the wealthiest program in the SEC, one of the wealthiest in the nation with a rich tradition. Yes, we have sucked for about a decade but in just 2007 we were one TD away from beating LSU and playing for another BCS championship. I think anyone with a lick of sense would realize we are just a few puzzle pieces away from being competitive for a title annually.

On a similar note, LSU (who won it all in 07) was only 3 removed from their last title. Before that? 1950s. Never is a very long time.

Georgia is getting one real soon either this year or next count on it.

Y'all won't beat Bama the next two years, and by 20 Pruitt should have us in good enough shape that you won't have to worry about them.

Did you have him as an UGA fan? I had no inkling of WHO he belonged to...just that he wasn’t a Vol fan. :)

This is why I'm falling out of love with college football. I remember how exciting it was to win the SEC or go to the sugar bowl. Now, it's all or nothing. I doubt SC fans ever thought they'd win a NC, but I imagine they were ecstatic with their success under Spurrier. Can we enjoy less?

Can Vol fans handle the truth, I'm not so sure anymore, you?

That depends on what your definition of the truth is. I think Volnation is pretty well grounded with realists - some of whom have posted to this thread. The truth is anyone capable of recruiting at an elite level is also capable of winning a national championship. This article admits that Tennessee can recruit at an elite level. In effect, they contradict their own argument.

Lol Pruitt will never beat Smart

There is that word again. And you're not going to convince anyone that you are a Vol fan instead of a Dawg while making stupid comments like this. Pruitt hasn't even coached a game yet. No real fan of Tennessee would be this negative before there was a reason to.

I really don't know. Last week he said something that made me think A&M, but a couple of times I thought GA. JP seems to think he's Iknox which could mean he's a gator, but I don't think he is. I'd bet he's not even an SEC fan. Probably some butthurt UMASS fan still pissed about last year. :dunno:

It’s 2018 not 1994, 1998 or 2004

94 98 and 04 weren’t 80. And we beat your boys a few more (consecutive) years during those intervals. :) You’ve been next year’s champion since Reagan took over for Carter.

The Vols 1st need to own Vandy once again, but someone always wants to put the cart before the horse, no?:good!:

No we need to win relevant games before we put the down payment on the shiny cart. Vandy ain’t a milestone.

I'm betting this writer will regret having included Tennessee on the list within the next 5 years.

Not that we'll win a national championship in that time. Only that we'll be competing for the SEC and a potential berth in the playoffs by then. His prediction will look silly long before it is disproved.

Dawgs will beat UT by 40 plus again this year
