The schools themselves are now able to pay directly. So any attempt to cap what schools can pay will also be met with lawsuits.Plus NIL is not salaries anyway. It's basically endorsement money. The basic point of the NIL rulings is players own their own NIL. So if the NCAA don't own it and colleges don't own it, how can they cap it?
It is also not clear to me that the NCAA is a sports league in the sense that the NFL is a sports league. The college playoffs are totally outside of the NCAA. I can't imagine the NFC could ever decide to have its own Super Bowl...at least not without officially withdrawing from the NFL to form its own league.
That's completely bogus. Championships are earned on the field. It is becoming apparent that championships will be bought and not earned in the future. There is no game to that. Just like Alabama buying championships in the past. The system will eventually bankrupt itself.
As a fan for longer than 50 years I am beginning to realize there are a lot of more important things than college athletics that deserve my attention and finances. How much are we paying students who will be future teachers or nurses who really have an impact on society? Or even the future doctors and scientists? Over inflated ego athletes are sinking on my lists.
