Did I see Nigel Warrior playing on Special Teams? I haven't watched ST players very closely these first few games so maybe I'm behind on this. I have not seen discussion of him breaking into the Defensive Back rotation with Cam out.
Any thoughts?

(I would add that he plays with attitude. He came off the field at looked pi$$ed. That's what we need on the field. Attitude!)

Also, I think John Kelly only had two carriers against Ohio but, I thought on those two carries I saw a glimpse of the future and it looked good. He didn't hesitate like Kamara seems to at times (looking for a hole or hoping to juke someone). He appears to take the ball and blast off.

Warrior's a safety, so Cam's injury has no effect on his playing time.

Kelly is and will be awesome...full agreement.

John Kelly is a perfect example of Butch Jone's stubbornness. He finally started to crack a little last week, hopefully he gets many more carries against Florida. Better vision, burst, speed, big play ability.

Kelly really fits into this offense well, whereas hurd should be running with an Iform or something with a lead blocker like Jakob, downhill head of steam. Kelly will work out nicely the next few years IMO......it is a bright spot on the future, and I also wonder about Warrior breaking into the fold outside of special teams.....

Than Kamara?

When has Kelly shown this big play ability?

We've been in tight games...they're not going to sit TKjr or Abernathy to see if Warrior has the defensive responsibilities down.

I always get excited to see J.Kelly in the game. He runs with authority and always seems to pick up good yardage.

of course i wasnt suggesting that by any means, just saying he wouldnt be far if someone got hurt and what have you.....
TKj had some issues last game but given what he has done over the past 20 games he is the starter for sure and Micah is flat out balling this year...

Kelly isn't getting the yards Hurd does with this OL.

Hurd is good and has his place but unless he's got a Grand Canyon sized hole to run through he rarely has the vision or burst to get through a crack. Kelly looks more decisive and maybe he can break ankle tackles.

I don't know why this is so hard for people to get. If there's a hole there and the ball carrier can get to the second level, maybe Kelly can be effective. But there's hardly ever a clean running lane with this o-line and it takes an absolute horse like Hurd to create all these unimpressive looking 3 yard runs.

I'd love to see Kamara receive a screen pass. Of course, the line would have to execute, so......

Our screen game has gotten bowling shoe ugly and everybody is reading it whenever Kamara releases out of the backfield. They're going to have to show Kamara running more routes up the field or he's going to get killed.

ugh. We are not comparing john kelly to anyone. He is tough as nails and runs THROUGH lines. He scored a nice TD in the VT game and had more success than our current backs from the backfield. You get Kamara the ball in space. A different kind of back. The guy is special. Lets keep it our little secret for now though.

Actually I think he is. He's had like half a dozen runs. Go watch them. He gets yards.

As little as we've used Byrd on offense, I'd like to see him moved to defense...but, it's probably too late for that..

Looks to me like you just did.

had more success than our current backs from the backfield.

I did like the burst I saw from Kelly, but I'm not sold that he's a better option in numerous carries on traffic. Just not many runs right now where the RB is hitting a hole cleanly.

I agree completely.
To a degree, same with Kelly. That was the main reason I was hoping to blow some of those teams out, just a chance to get the other guys game time before they're put in for an emergency.

He's the future. I'll telling you guys this team is sneaky, sneaky good. Nobody sees it coming yet. They are very tough. They are opportunistic fighters. I don't care what your charts tell you. As soon as they build some momentum and start to gel on the field they will be very tough to beat.

That's really been the untold consequence of the Ohio and App State games. We missed out on a lot of reps that could be gone to guys like that.

No way to really judge that being Kelly doesn't get many snaps. Though he does seem to hit the gaps faster before they close up with the limited snaps he does get. Hurd gets hit in the backfield or the los more times than not. It's not Hurd's fault, more that the scheme doesn’t fit his skill set. I know it's gotta be frustrating for him sometimes because the guy is a beast. But I agree with you on the OL. There's not many backs out there that would thrive with this OL. It's really a shame, because we have so much big time talent at all the other position groups. Hope they figure out a way to atleast mask the OL woes going forward.
