If it’s been discussed I’m sorry. I know he’s our top recruiter, and the value of that particular skill set cannot be understated in college football. Looking at our linebackers this year, I just don’t see the type of development you would hope for. Especially with the type of athletes and size we have at the position. Outside of Henry T., Crouch and Banks look lost a good bit of the time; especially when they are asked to cover underneath routes. Even if you look back to last year, I feel like Wood-Anderson (when coached by Niedermeyer) underperformed or his talent wasn’t maximized. The guy can recruit, but can he coach? Thoughts?

Face it, we have some guys who are substandard position coaches at this point. We wanted to get Osovet on the field coaching TE (not sure why not QB), so we move Neids to LB. Neither move had exactly paid off.

They need to recruit and sign actual linebackers and not convert running backs. I believe that will help

Wait.

Hold up now.

You mean to tell me a good recruiter with ZERO LB or even any defensive coaching responsibilities wasn't a good choice for LB Coach?

A guy who has a GRAND TOTAL of 3 years of position coaching experience (1 at East Texas Baptist University with WRs, 2 at UT with TEs) isn't a good choice for a defensive position gig at a major university?

I mean, you're close to telling me our football program is run by a gump who has never heard of asparagus before because Pruitt is a defensive GENIUS and you're nothing but an armchair know-it-all. What's next, you don't want a gas station attendant to be your car mechanic?

Our DBs can't route math to save their lives. Especially the safeties. They are awful.

In their defense, Toney and Pitts basically can't be covered by a LB. Add to that very little penetration by the DL and it makes it a tough assignment.

If I was an OC, I would have a heyday with our linebackers. They haven't been able to cover backs coming out of the backfield all season.

Failed at teaching them how to catch passes not thrown their way. I think he’s a brilliant innovative coach.

Aside from Chaney and Graham, I'm not sure we have a good coach anywhere on this staff.

Early in the season, I honestly thought the one unit that was slightly overachieving was the D line. Stands to reason we fired the D line coach

Can't put all the blame on Nieds. Henry is the only one who should be out there. Banks is killing us.
Somewhat agree...Banks is killing us.

Henry isnt mucb better. The love affair with Henry T is simply a carryover from last year and the flashes of potential he showed

1000 % AGREE here.
Henry T has regressed this year and shows no fire a lot of times. Especially on special teams plays...if your just going to stand there and watch, why even take up space on the field?
