Nico visited UCLA the week before the Arkansas game

What's interesting is that VN would NEVER EVER have been saying "That new guy Joey Aguilar that UCLA picked up is better than Nico and I wish we had him instead" if Nico hadn't left. NO ONE.

I get trying to pump yourself up after a loss but it's totally absurd when you know in your heart you weren't looking to trade Nico for Joey A just a few months ago.

Idk man i saw a couple say they wished we had the Vandy kid last year, and tbh i didn't think it was ridiculous.

I would agree but didn’t he run out of bounds on the last play with the game on the line??
Brain fart. Few years ago Dak ran too far and didn't give his team time to line back up and ended their season. Brady lost track of downs one time when he thought he had one more down.
Stuff happens.

I think we'd STILL do well with Diego, though I'm betting his magic bubble leaks a little this year.

Hopefully Joey A gets the magic bubble in the SEC this year that appears when you least expect it.

Don’t really care about the Arkansas game. Water under the bridge now. What galls me is our starting QB visiting another school DURING the season. Sleazy and unacceptable but I guess we should have expected that from his sleazy father. That just tells me a move was already in motion and they were already taking bids.
There is so much more to the story - why the father wanted more $$- that the media hasn’t discussed. The players are aware why. I can only assume the media has not confirmed the allegations so it hasn’t been discussed.

Well one reason for sure is that Dad was greedy as heck and was pimping his son for more dollars. That doesn’t need much investigation and is all I need to know.

On the surface, you are correct. But I think I’ll reserve final judgement until I see JA perform in this offense. Nobody can know for sure till then. As I recall, Nico was not as impressive as his reputation would indicate.

It's the homerism of automatically saying we're better with Joey A than Nico that's absurd.

If TX had lost Arch and picked up Joey A as a starter, we'd be laughing and saying "Who???"

I hope Joey A does well but the insistence of some that he's kind of everything Nico wasn't is at best very wishful thinking but mostly just pure homer fandom.

No doubt. Silly to say he’s absolutely going to be better than Nico because nobody knows. On the other hand, Nico’s performance didn’t match his 5 star hype or $2.4 million deal so the bar for JA isn’t as high as some want to believe. Best to see how he does in live action before we judge. Should know more after Georgia.

I think we'll know his readiness in the Syracuse game. If he's making good reads and not jumpy, he's as ready as we need.

My worry is less with Joey and more with the O Line making it hard for Joey to have a chance to make decisions. Joey A is a question mark but so is our O Line, really.

Teams like GA that throw in tricky defensive reads are next level hard for any QB and if Joey A can just hold his own, that's enough and all we'd likely get from any QB. Kirby is going to do everything he can to make his D unreadable at Neyland.

He was a mistake--from freaking start to finish. Hopefully, one of the few times CJH buys into the hype and goes with flash over substance and character. Hey, it was a new day in NIL---lessons learned. I will only say this about Nico and his classy clan...I hope they get what they deserve--whatever that is.
Can't blame Heupel. The kid walked the walk and talked the talk. Not easy to see the real character of someone when they make a concerted effort to hide it. From my perspective, he was shopping himself and tried to set things up so it looked like it was Tennessee's fault he left, so it wouldn't appear he was going for the money. Backfired on him.

At least he didn’t visit Colorado before the season. 😳
Speaking of which, talked to a former teammate of Prime last night at the Pro Rivals Golf Tour. He said Deion had surgery for abdominal cancer and the surgery was successful in removing the cancer, but, he's going through a tough healing process and cannot control bowel movements. Man, that's tough. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Specifically, how did he get "out coached"?
He got beat. Hence outcoached. That’s why he makes the millions. Responsibility starts and ends with the leader. Wrong plays- his fault. Bad breaks- his fault. Kids weren’t inspired to play- his fault.

I’d bet even he would tell you that. It’s what good leaders do. Take responsibility for the short comings, give credit to others for the Ws.
