Nico to UCLA?

Coincidentally there is a show on FS 1 right now on the Polynesian culture and football. It’s obvious that Samoan boys live to play football. Their parents hold huge influence in their lives and the kids respect their parents no matter what the age. Not surprising what happened with Nico and his dad. Dad with way too much control and sounds really overboard.

One thing that was stated was that the children live to bring honor to their family name. Wonder what went wrong with the Imaleava’s. None of this looks honorable to me.

Let me correct one thing I said. The more I watch this show and the stories of other Samoan players, what has happened with Nico and his father is an anomaly. It’s not surprising that Nico’s dad holds huge sway in his life but the way they’ve acted is not commensurate with the Samoan way.

Statement from Nico-
"First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His grace, for continuing to bless my family, and for allowing me to live out my passion each and every day.To the amazing people in Knoxville, thank you for embracing and uplifting me throughout my time there. I’ll be forever thankful for the support you showed me every step of the way and I’ll always cherish the relationships I built there and the memories I created with my brothers. I believe with all my heart that I gave my all as a Volunteer. I’m truly grateful for the time I had at UT.My journey at UT has come to an end. This decision was incredibly difficult, and truthfully, not something I expected to make this soon. But I trust God’s timing, and I believe He’s leading me where I need to be.Even though, this chapter is ending, a new chapter has begun and I am committed to UCLA!"

Yeah . . . riiiight.

I heard it was between $1.5 and $1.75 million. Don't know if that's accurate.
If he got a penny over 1.5 UCLA collective is dumb. There literally was no other options for this kid. I guess you could have a non P4 come in at a million if it got down to that point but no one wanted this kid. Potential talent is great but the lockerroom cancer potential was enough to make most people say hell no even if he came free.

And no reason to believe he is actually the best, yet. Other than recruiting ratings.
Yeah, would be funny if he didn't even win the starting job. Then again, I suppose the largest NIL deal in the room decides who hte starter is. Merit is no longer a necessity.

They have 10 QB's, that's insane.
If they got 10 QB's, and needed Nico, they suck at recruiting. Why does 10 QB's even stay. Are they so bad that being a PWO middle school scout QB is a good roster spot. Is it UCLA walk-on spot or D3. There's no way #4-#10 ever see practice snaps. A responsible coach would never even allow that. He should be rather honest with #5 and lower.

Bar night in LA. Dude, I'm the #10 back up QB at UCLA. Cool Bro. Want another Zima.

I don’t buy the “culture” thing. Plenty of overzealous, intrusive dad’s out there that ruin their kids.

I honestly don't think so. It was simply a mix of greed and incompetence.
Falling upward. But with madden switching at the last minute. And “negotiations” with Nico dating back to pre-playoffs, I wouldn’t put past a greedy conniving parent to put this all together.
