So how is all of the nil
Structured does he get a guaranteed 8 million or just the 2 million per year he is here? What made tn think he was worth 8 mil as the #6 pocket passer vs going after the other top 5? Does tn owe him the 8 million if he never sees the field for tn. Milton looks great so that’s 2 million to sit the first year likely.

Jackson looks good too.

Only time will tell. Although I trust it was not a shot in the dark from whatever collective paid him. I am also confident the people negotiating these things have thought through the challenges.
QBs sitting for at least a year is a good thing. I hope Milton is good but he had one more year. Jackson may be the guy, but you never stop recruiting.
I, for one, am excited we identified our guy and went and got him. Crown jewel of the class. Big personality on the camp circuit. Recruiting for us day in and day out because he is already bought in and not wavering. I trust Heupels evaluations.

Nico is arguably the best QB in the country. His number 6 rating on ESPN is preposterous

His team does suck, however he has out performed the other qbs in his class at every event this summer not named Manning. However Manning hasn't attended any camp at all. Manning has never won a playoff game in a crap division of gootball either, so there is that and he has a perfect 1.000 grade because of his name alone

Well first off nobody knows if the 8 million is legit or not. Bits assumed because if an anonymous “west coast lawyer.” Where are you getting Nico is the #6 pocket passer? No disrespect but have you seen him play? Have you looked at all the rave reviews he has gotten from every person who has seen him play? There is a legitimate argument that he should be the #1 overall player in the country.

Tennessee isn’t paying him a dime. A non university supported company is responsible for any NIL deals.

Ideally Milton starts and makes his money next year with Jackson as his backup and Nico redshirts. The next year the battle between Jackson and Nico will set the pecking order. Ideally Jackson wins it and Nico gets limited playing time and starts his last 2 years.

That’s the way it should be. Relying on underclassmen in key roles is not ideal. Let them get a couple years of practice and ease them into the starting spot.

Problem with that is todays kids want to play right away or they head to the Portal -- Coaches can be handcuffed by this portal stuff

Putting a bunch of guys in the league and NIL helps this. The players get money now and see the potential real money from the league. Set realistic expectations for NIL and playing time early. Winning also helps. Playing as a RSFR and SO in limited time helps develop guys and get them ready to start for a year or two.

No one knows exactly how the deal is written. My personal guess is that it has some incentives that could be worth $8 million. The media wanted something the write about illustrating how awful NIL is... so they picked the rumors concerning his deal.

He looks like a really good prospect. So did Blake Barnett... Shea Patterson... KJ Costello... JG... Hunter Johnson and dozens of other QB's that looked great as recruits.

You can never truly know how a guy will or won't develop in college.

PS- Jackson looked good the other night.... the forgotten man could easily end up being "the Man".

You know it's not out of the question that we have two draftable QBs this year. If Milton keeps doing his magic, I can see him being highly sought after for that cannon and his frame can take some NFL hits.

It’s a lot of money, sure, but there’s kind of a return on it beyond how much playing time he gets and how soon. We have a five star marquee QB in the ‘23 class and I’d rather recruit from that position than without him. That’s worth some money before even thinking about on field production. We keep winning this year and show that level of commitment to recruiting and we’re going to flip some big names in December.

$2 million to set and learn the playbook and spend time in the wait room. I think Nico will be on board no matter what.

When it was first being discussed it was up to $8mil and people ran with saying it was $8mil, also think it was up to $2mil a year
Honestly if NIL was being used how I thought it should be used then Nico is probably one of the most marketable guys out there.
Of course he'll need to win when he gets on the field but he has the looks and swag to promote a product

TJ is gone after this season.
Myabe, maybe not.
He hasn't had the chance to show enough yet and you got to remember. Bigger name QB's may hit the portal also.
He could find himself without a home or playing at some lower tier school.
Milton will more than likely start next year but with the way this teams plays, injuries are likely to happen, next man up could be the starting man the rest of the season
