And that’s really, to a large degree, where the problem lies. The NCAA was so reactive and heavy handed instead of being proactive and flexible with the changing college sports landscape where they could have played a major and positive role in guiding it through the transition into the NIL era. Had they sought counsel, or better counsel, they might possibly still be relevant and very instrumental through this whole process. Instead, they held on as tight as they could and got slapped down by the courts. I don’t know if they just didn’t have smart enough legal counsel to advise them that this was in fact coming and the courts were going to allow these athletes to be paid and they needed to be out in front of this transition. They failed in every possible way wrt to this entire issue…and it didn’t have to be that way. What a shame.Yes, and thanks to numerous lawsuits (many of which TN or UT were involved in) the NCAA has basically shuttered their enforcement office.
Welcome to the Wild Wild West.
Heupel and Co would be guilty of malpractice if they've not been chatting up various players playing or committed to other schools, that is ... tampering.
You did that of your free will. Sure, athletes COULD be in school but most won't choose that route and the young ones will be looking to the NFL for the big exposure and payday. The players can still be students at your university as a benefit of employment. I was a paid professional at a corporation when I was in college at UT AND I got my tuition paid for and that was 25 years ago.
Alright man. I'm just telling you what he told the people around him, not the media. He didn't want the negativity saying it was about money. And I'm not one who needs the attention of strangers nor do I even care if you believe it don't believe it. I'll still drink my Grey Goose, eat my steak and lobster and rail my woman. A stranger believing or not believing me won't make or break my day. Just sharing info that I KNOW. And I'd much rather have more sources at TN than $hit about Alabubba. I was born into an Alabama family, yet took my own path and chose to bleed Orange and White. And to hate Ala on an unhealthy level. Go Vols.View attachment 734438
It definitely is because saban retired. Why would he leave if saban was staying they barely lost in the cfp semis?? Bama would have matched anything to keep him. He made his “business move/decision” after saban retired he says it pretty plainly here. 0% reason to lie about that.
If Nico is gone, I guess he sells the TN Playbook? This is going to be an 8-4 or so year. It was already shaping up to be a little problematic with some of the off season losses. Nico isn't the great QB he was hyped to be but he was probably still our best QB unless on of these backups shows us something we haven't expected like Hooker did.
I mean the two decades before Danny white this place was a clown show. Georgia had plenty of drama with Beck they just have enough talent to cover up a lot of the BS.The level of drama doesn't match Tennessee though. Even 2 years ago, we had that NIL situation and defense quit on us against South Carolina that cost us title game. You have the Pruitt drama going on, etc. Just constant drama with this School.
Their NIL deals should include a certain amount of credits towards a legitimate degree each semester in addition to their athletic performance. You did that of your free will. Sure, athletes COULD be in school but most won't choose that route and the young ones will be looking to the NFL for the big exposure and payday.
"I didn't come hear to play school. I came here to play ball."
most players already don't choose the school route. they do the very minimum to stay eligible to play which let me tell you isn't much unless youre Vanderbilt. the players now making big$ were already on track to leave the university for the pros without a degree in hand and it was never their intention to ever have a degree. it's been that way for decades. You did that of your free will. Sure, athletes COULD be in school but most won't choose that route and the young ones will be looking to the NFL for the big exposure and payday.

NIL, until the House settlement is approved, are done outside of the school and have to be unattached to any school or performance.Their NIL deals should include a certain amount of credits towards a legitimate degree each semester in addition to their athletic performance.
