the NFL is very used to every single player being like this. in the NFL players fight for every single dollar. the difference is the NFL has protections against this crap happening to its teams. contracts actually matter and can't just be renegotiated at the players whim.

the players have all the power now. instead of having a sensible solution we went from one extreme to the other. the only difference is that the previous extreme was WAY better for fans of the sport.

The NCAA didn’t explicitly want this. But their hands are basically tied w the Supreme Court ruling (even though they are to blame). It’s a burning house.

The NIL is costing lots of coaches their jobs - and it is NOT their fault. The heads of the SEC, ACC, Big 10 and Big 12 were on Fox News the other day w Brett Baier and they were in DC seeking help from congress to get a hold on the NIL and Portal issues. Not sure if Congress can handle anything else on their plate right now with the big, beautiful bill but, someone needs to own these issues soon so that we can standardize the practices of all this BS. If not, college sports will be meaningless. Just my opinion.

If "NIL" is the direction we are going to continue then we need contracts. Performance contracts, transfer clauses and clawbacks for breach. I would also make them pay for their education (if that even exists).

Situations like this could eventually turn Tennessee from being a "football school". The things our fans LOVE about basketball and baseball is the TRUE "VFL" mentality. Yes, we have some transfer.....but the ones that fans love.....they stick. They LOVE this place. Players sit and wait their turn under Vitello. Players LOVE Barnes and stay here because of that relationship. And fans WORSHIP them for it. Football is becoming a true cluster and we are starting to see it more and more. Loyalty is all but gone in college sports. It's why ZZ and Mashack stand out and can do no wrong in our fan's eyes for the most part. You can be a legend at TN if you just stay loyal. Or you can be a hired gun and an asterik in our history.

Would you feel good about Nico if he got $4M to stay this year? I want a great result this season and I support the team, but as a person … I’m no longer in favor of him being the QB. He’s selfish and this kind of crap is a distraction. I’m afraid he’s damaged goods for us now. Maybe I am alone in that.

The power conference football programs need to leave the NCAA and become a full fledged professional minor league. With professional contracts and all.

Reason number 874,591 why this NIL crap and the transfer portal, need to go away.......PERMANENTLY! This has ruined college sports and made players free agents twice a year. It's obscene!

Performance Contracts? We don't even have that for coaches. It would have been nice for us with Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt.
