Going pro was only an option if he wanted a career in the Canadian Football League or the new USFL/XFL, whatever it's called now. There was no "decision" to be made. He might get in camp as an undrafted free agent, but that would likely be short lived since he doesn't have the cerebral tools to tackle the NFL....at least not yet anyway. Maybe a good QB coach would help.

It's sad when you have an overwhelming helicopter dad that has to come out and say this. It feels like he makes all the choices in Nicos career. He was a big reason in why he left Tennessee.

It's a case in a parent pushing a kid like hes a Heisman candidate when he's just not as talented as that. I've read that isn't rare from people in that culture. Sad when someone can't be their own person.

Very challenging schedule and many question marks going into next season. Honestly 8-4 again would be a very good season with that schedule, we can’t lose Vandy again though.

I was joking about his dad announcing he was staying and perhaps the old man learned a lesson as well as Nico. Nico has skills and may eventually be an asset but so far he has been an overpriced high maintenance athlete. It is ok to report how he is doing as UT wasted millions of dollars and hours of time with him and his family.

Nice to see Joey benefit from Nico’s implosion and it will be interesting to see if Bob Chesney can develop Nico into a ballplayer. My guess is there will be serious competition at UCLA and Nico will earn his starting position for the first time. Chesney has no loyalty to old Nick Iamaleava and could push the whole clan to the curb if they cannot adjust to a third coach in 3 seasons.

The reality is there is limited demand for Nico at the college level much less NFL.

I'd be more concerned with his pedestrian output.

Lol. You're assuming they ever went to class even 25 years ago.

Most of them just do online classes. A poor imitation of the already mostly joke classes most of them take to stay eligible academically.

One semester, I kinda lucked out on an elective that was a known "easy A" as long as you showed up half the time. Spot just happened to pop open the night before classes started ha ha. I was the only non-athlete in the class man. I spent maybe 30 minutes total outside of class time devoted to the course and got my A-but I lost a ton of respect for some of our athletes in the process. The entire thing was a big joke already and they spent half the time just doing nonsense-it was horrible man. I needed that A to make up for my poor academics in my engineering classes or I woulda found another class after Day 1.

An 8 AM diffeq class in Ayres for 90% of them? Lol. More like their "early" class for the day being a noon underwater basket weaving class online.

Not sure about about 25 years ago, but 50+ years ago the same was true. I had a job in the post office sorting and putting mail in PO boxes. Had to be there at 6 a.m. Wow, things change, no one sends letters now, just bills and junk mail.
Ha, no online classes in the 70s. I did take a programming class (Cobol?). Degree in Finance.

What do you expect man? Hell, our very own Heupel is one of the progenitors or the one read offense.

Simple fact is that 75% of QBs coming outta college these days probably haven't had to read a defense in their lives.

Nobody ever said that CFB coaches weren't inclined to control absolutely everything they can.

Rivers was probably the last generation that operated strictly from a Pro style offense where making multiple reads was the name of the game.
