So, with all the nicknames across the country for respective stadiums (ie...The Big House, Death Valley, The Swamp, The Horseshoe, etc...), why doesn't Neyland Stadium have one???

25 years ago, when i was a student at UT, I had a drunk idea that I would coin a nickname: "The VOLCANO"...for Neyland. I thought it was brilliant, and that I would make millions of dollars off the name and sell hundreds of thousands of tshirts, hats, and decals...

...I obviously failed miserably, lack of effort!

I always thought VOLCANO would fit perfectly as "Vol" is incorporated into the name and the stadium resembles the vertical rise and orange lava of a volcano. Dumb idea?

So...why don't we have a solid nickname for our GIANT stadium?

I always thought it had a great name... "Neyland". That is good enough for me and pays homage to the man who created Tennessee football. Let the other's call their stadium whatever silliness they want.

Although I applaud your effort, I am glad you didn't get into the nickname business. ;)

It doesn't need it. They tried to nickname it "The Rock" IIRC a while back. Didn't bode well with the boosters. If anything, call it "Rocky Top".

Deleted faulty research.

Neyland is the name it doesn't need some cheesy nickname. If it was up to me I would bring back the cannon they use to fire after a score and the TN Walking horse.

They have the TN Walking Horse at homecoming games.

There's not a whole lot of area for that cannon to sit.
