What was everones thoughts on Stephens tonight? Is he our QB next year or will he get beat out? He seemed a little nervous at first which was understandable but that was just an awful interception he threw at the end. Nice TD pass but I still have concerns about him!

Yeah there is reason for concern but he still has a whole year to be taught this system by Lane and the rest of the offensive staff. I think if he is the starter next year it will be because Lane believes in him as he did JC this year.

We had more than a few concerns with Crompton three games into this year. He looked more in control tonight than last year. He COULD be our qb next year, if he beats out the others coming in.

I say he will be. Still a tough task to acclimate a true freshman to the SEC. Don't want to throw him in the fire unless he is undoubtedly ready. Plus Bray will still need to put on more weight before he sees the field.

I think he is our QB next year unless a Juco comes in to compete. Perhaps Bray can takeover later if we stumble but feeding Bray as an 18 year old to UF early in the year is a scary thought.

Are any of our wb recruits graduating in December to get the spring on campus? If so, I expect it to be a tough battle through camp and would not be surprised if he was not starting for us come fall.

He has a cannon but he is unpredictable and has a tendency to throw into triple coverage.

NS will be fine. Once he starts getting more 1st team reps everything else will fall into place. The coaches need to get him some OL help though.

I still think we should take Cameron Newton....the guy is solid and can make some real competition between himself, bray, and stephens....i just cant seem to see nick stephens playing QB on this football team....I like t bray with some added weight....i really like Cam Newton. The guy is a player. This will only make the Tenn Florida game that much more intriguing. Kiffin may just do this to piss off meyer. Go Vols! Way to handle memphis tonite....that helps out big with all the memphis recruits...i was at the game and crompton played like a heisman candidate

Trust your coach, no matter how foggy the future may be.
Somebody emailed this to me a while ago.

"B.J. Coleman went 25-for-46 for 246 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions for the Mocs (5-4, 3-4)" This in a 35-20 loss to Appy State. Not a terrible performance against good competition without the picks , but that kind of effort will never get you a W against the UFs and Bammers of the world."

I dont think anyone would be a great quarterback with three offensive coordinators in 4 years.....

The Quitter and the Mocs end their season with a trip to Tuscaloosa. I'll be eagerly waiting to see his stats for that game.

JC's been nothing short of amazing in his progression this year, but I think he's getting too much credit just as he got too much blame before. The receivers have been unreal lately with their route running.

Stephens is a bit slower than Crompton, but other than that his physical tools actually surpass Crompton...which is saying something.

That being said, Stephens still looked slow on his reads. Granted he hasn't gotten much live PT, but slow reads are what killed Crompton last year through the Florida game. He'll have to improve to hold off one of "Kiffin's guys".

I hate cliche's , but the only way to describe JC is the light just popped on and stayed on. Thank god , I dreamed of these days :superman:

I also think what will help Nick going into next year is that he can say he's played in tough SEC enviroments before. He's played against SEC speed. His mechanics look better and he looked pretty decent. The one pick was forced, but I think that's because he's trying to impress the coaches. Nick has a lot of potential, and I think with two offseasons under the system he can start for us.

If this staff can turn the train wreck that was Jonathan Crompton at the beginning of the year into what he is now then I'm certain they can work out the kinks that Stephens has by next year....

I was once very concerned about 2010 but if we can find ourselves a Oline then we're going to be just fine...

We'll be loaded at RB and WR, I'm certain this staff can pull what they did with Crompton with Stephens, and our D will be stacked...

Again...figure out the OL situation and we'll be a team nobody wants to face

I thought Stephens looked good except for the interception. But consider the competition. Was that 1st team or 2nd team Memphis defense when Stephens was in the game? I like Bray and would like him to be the starter. next year. Being here in the spring will help learning the offense and putting on weight. Lots of people still say he won't start because he is too skinny. He is already up to 203. Isn't that more than Peyton Manning ? But I will trust the coaches whomever their choice is.
