Nick Stephens Is Gone (Merged)

The last few qb's have just be downright pitiful for UT. They either fail or give up.

That's debatable. Were they awesome? no. Did Crompton cave in and just give up? ummmm no, he didn't. He got more criticism than anyone, kept his head up, and whooped ass for the second half of the season.

Nash will def RS this year.

But, from all the positives I've heard of Simms' demeanor, confidence & general swag in his approach, unless he craps out & doesn't execute on the weekends, he may be our leader for two years. That is, unless he shows enough of NFL potential, arm, etc to leave after Jr year. His dad was my fave QB.
Saw a youtube interview he did stating he finally found the place he feels at home at. If Dooley can build the program I expect him to be around for the next couple of years.

This ain't the end of the world, but the days of Andy Kelly to Heath Shuler to Peyton Manning to Tee Martin seem very far away.

I honestly think it is a good thing for UT...feel bad for Stephens

If Simms and Stephens were anywhere close than you have to go withs Simms just for the fact he has another year...and everything that has come out from the players suggests a positive move...

Guess Nick just read the writing on the wall that Simms was seizing the job. He felt he had waited his turn and was for some reason being unfairly demoted. Best of luck to him at wherever he lands, will be an FCS or D-II school because of the transfer rule. Maybe he'll join Warren at North Alabama(the official destination of a whole load of FBS transfers.)

well remember when crompton was struggling and everybody wanted stephans in and chaney said we would all want crompton back in lol...nick was getting beaten out by a freshman and a junior that says something about his ability

I do remember that.

But I also remember Stephens rifling that ball against GA TWO years ago and he ran a bit too. Hard to believe that in 2 yrs he didn't learn anything, didn't get stronger at all, didn't mature in patience and judgment at all.

But now he goes and leaves the team, so moot f'in point.

What is he going to do...that is my question? He has no eligibility left, so he must go to a small school and try to play...

Just stay at UT and get an education... there is obviously no way you play after college... get a degree and then a job like the rest of us.

If he transfers to Div II he doesn't lose a year. That's what I expect him to do.

Great..... Simms = Rag arm Rick Clausen......

Dude, you need to get on 23 south and drive down to Polaris and get yourself some pants man.

Also, you kinda look like a naked version of the Lucky Charms guy in that pic. Quite disturbing.

Unless there is a major development, I doubt this happens. We have now lost our best returning OL, RB, and QB. Additionally, we do not have a proven QB developer.
I love our DC though,so maybe we will pitch some shut outs.

What???

Did you not witness the Crompton turnaround?

And Chaney was Drew Brees' coach.

Not worried about that part at all.

Oh well. Pick-Nick is gone. Could've used him as the backup for sure but no crying over spilled ginger-milk. I say we still redshirt Bray and maybe even go with a Simms-Nance 2 qb system. Nash Nance is easily the closest thing to Tebow since Jesus. Or wait... is that the other way around.....?

I think it would be bad for Bray to start this year because of this, if you start Bray then Simms might leave too. I know you shouldnt pick a starter because of that but with our questions at OL it would suck to have Bray, Lamiason, and Nash only at QB.

I would love to see Bray come in and start for 3-4 years.. It does help that he is an EE. I don't believe Ainge EE'd when he started as a true frosh either did he?

No, you're right, Ainge arrived in the summer, not an EE. I wonder what he weighed when he qb'd us to a win over FL? But like somebody else said, we didn't have a brand new OL then.

C.J. Boleman and Nicholas Stephenson were both back up kickers anyway. No big loss.

:)

This is ideal. Simms gets the reigns for 2 years, then turns it over to Bray for the next 2 years when Bray has developed.
