That's why I thought the safest decision was to give Fulmer his last chance to turn things around. UT could very easily end up on a coaching carousel like Bama and UGA had sans the instate talent. It could get ugly... and that's why UT can afford even less patience than other schools.and the revolving door continues.
Things do take time but you are talking about a completely different era of football and world. The SEC has quality coaches top to bottom now. Recruiting and information have never been more intense. It took Majors over a decade to build UT up to what they became under Fulmer and Co. Yes, Fulmer was a great recruiter at one time before he just decided to eat. But, Majors sent us into the '90s with Cotton,Sugar, and Fiesta Bowls. Things take time.
I am not that type. I am just realistic. If he does not succeed early in this job, the chances that he ever succeeds will go down exponentially.Everyone wants fly by night B.S. If Dooley can get us to consistently 9-10 wins a season that's where we want to be and that will take at least 2 more years.
Dooley need to never have below an 8 win season. This year he gets a pass. 2012 he has to have at least 8 wins, at least. But, to me you still don't give up. Now by 4th or 5th year and he's still 500 or 7 wins.......good bye!
IMHO, 8 isn't enough in '12. He needs 9 plus a first or second place finish in the East minimum. What you said may be the reality... but I think it will ultimately hurt the program if it happens.
